Heidelberg To Educate Value Of Variable Data Printing At GATF/PIA Conference

October 30, 2003 – Heidelberg USA will demonstrate the benefits of variable data printing and how it can help customers yield greater business results at the GATF/PIA Variable Data Printing Conference in Phoenix, Ariz., Nov. 3-5. Heidelberg, exhibiting for the second year in a row, will have experts on hand to discuss the company’s “Seven Levels of Variable Data Printing,” which ranges from the learning process of short-run printing to extending a company’s capabilities by tightly integrating the Internet into an automated fulfillment system. “Heidelberg is running at full speed to support the education efforts of digital printing and evangelize the power of variable data printing,” said Richard Sand, director of Heidelberg’s Business Development Services. “The GATF/PIA Conference is an effective forum to show the successful applications of variable data printing.” Heidelberg is also sponsoring the keynote presentation featuring world-renowned graphic designer Charles Spencer Anderson, who will discuss how he has used digital printing and variable imaging to enhance his design work. Anderson, who owns the Charles S. Anderson Design Company and CSA Images, is widely recognized in the printing and graphic arts industries for his award-winning packaging, identity and product designs. He has worked with well-known companies such as Nike, The New York Times, Target, Levi’s and Paramount Pictures. Anderson is also noted in printing circles for his design of a complex variable data cover for the May issue of American Printer, in which he used Heidelberg’s NexPress 2100 digital color press to produce a design involving 52 individual illustrations and photographs. Anderson’s hour-long presentation, entitled “Personalization and the Design Community: The Shape of Things to Come,” begins at 8:45 a.m. on Monday, Nov. 3. Also espousing the benefits of variable data printing during the GATF/PIA conference will be EJ Flammer of digital@batesjackson llc, a Heidelberg digital customer that was among the first to install the Digimaster 9100 black and white digital production press and the NexPress 2100 color production press. Flammer, who has used his Heidelberg digital presses to establish a successful short-run, VDP business, will lead a case study discussion about the specifics behind a variable data application from 10 a.m. to noon on Monday, Nov. 3.
