QDirect Solves Complex Print Management Challenges

Press release from the issuing company

ROCHESTER, N.Y.--Oct. 28, 2003-- Rochester Software Associates (RSA) announced QDirect, version 2.2, with an enhanced Java based interface is available immediately. Organizations realize a significant increase in productivity, reliability and flexibility in print production with QDirect. Product demonstrations of QDirect are available in the RSA exhibit at the Xplor International 24th Global Electronic Document Systems Conference and Exhibit. QDirect is a robust job and queue manager that controls workflow, routes jobs and manages print queues. The new version features an enhanced Java based client for managing jobs and destinations from any desktop. This highly customizable solution enables customers to consolidate jobs from multiple sources and distribute the output to multiple destinations such as printers or servers. QDirect is data stream and destination independent giving customers the flexibility to manage their entire enterprise. Jobs may originate in the data center, on a customer's network or at the desktop, and QDirect will collect and distribute them automatically or on command. QDirect is available as a standalone product or integrated with other RSA products to expand the total solution (M.I.S. Print, IPDSPrint, DTPrint and WebCRD). "With QDirect, customers can streamline the printing process by automatically matching and releasing jobs to the most efficient destination based on job attributes such as priority, size and finishing requirements," states Don Webster, RSA Director of Technology. He continues, "One advantage of RSA's QDirect is that it runs on a low cost Sun platform, which offers the highest level of reliability, scalability and security, yet, it is controlled from any desktop through an easy to use interface." Feature enhancements in QDirect version 2.2 include an updated Java Client with improved ease of use; robust view filters to look at specific job information, types and attributes; load balancing to control job flow to production printers; channel out capability and integration with Equitrac for complete accounting of distributed and centralized printing.
