NPOA Purchases Popular Printowners List Serv

Press release from the issuing company

List to Remain an Open Forum for Entire Printing Industry

New Orleans, LAThe National Print Owners Association (NPOA) made a surprise announcement at its “Welcome Reception” Thursday evening in New Orleans when it announced that it has acquired 100% ownership of the printing industry’s popular 500-member listserv discussion group, “The PrintOwners List.”

NPOA purchased all rights to the listserv from industry leader Mike Stevens, according to John Stewart, acting executive director for NPOA. “As a condition of its purchase, NPOA has agreed that membership on the list shall remain open to the entire printing industry,” said Stewart. “While membership in NPOA will be encouraged, it will not be required”.

“For all intents and purposes, the PrintOwners List, which claims more than 500 members, will continue to operate as it has for more than 15 years, serving printing firms and providing a forum for exchange of information on a broad variety of printing topics,” Stewart said at the inaugural NPOA gathering in New Orleans.

“I have felt blessed to have been associated with such a helpful endeavor,” said Mike Stevens at the time of the transfer. “I truly believe that the acquisition of the PO List by the NPOA will help many printers enjoy greater success in the future,” Stevens continued. “I say these things as a reminder to all that the PrintOwners List is a type of sacred trust that benefits many. May the Printowners List live long and help all printers prosper.”

As far as I can tell NPOA is the only association who has a listserve that is open to anyone no membership needed. This is a good thing for the industry and I believe it will help NPOA grow. Other groups I was with felt they had to keep a list private or risk things occurring they could not control. The naive part of that type thinking is nothing stays hidden long in connected today's world.
