Fujifilm Introduces FineScan 2750XL Color Scanner

Press release from the issuing company

HANOVER PARK, Ill., March 2004 – Fujifilm is introducing the company’s new FineScan 2750XL color scanner, an entry-level scanner for prepress, designers, advertising agencies, photo labs and studios, to the graphic communications market, joining the company’s already successful Quattro color scanner. Delivering high scanning speeds with remarkable quality, the Fujifilm FineScan 2750XL makes high-performance professional desktop scanning a reality. Eric L. Neumann, product manager for scanners and color management at Enovation Grapic Systems, says, “The competitively-priced FineScan 2750XL is a great scanner for a company wanting to add quality scanning capability to their portfolio of services, or even as a replacement for a tired drum scanner. The FineScan 2750XL is the perfect solution when the top-end resolution and enlargements of the Quattro aren’t required.” The FineScan 2750XL offers class-leading specifications based around a large 18.5” x 13.8” platen, allowing up to 100 35mm slides to be automatically scanned and cropped in one operation at a resolution that allows large-format reproduction. The FineScan 2750XL uses Fujifilm’s Super Linear 10,500 element CCD and a twin lens design to provide professional quality and improved productivity, compared to single lens alternatives. This unique twin lens design allows the first lens to pass over the entire platen at 762 dpi for fast scanning of large originals or multiple smaller originals at moderate enlargements, while the second lens is able to scan anywhere on the platen in 100mm strips at 2,743 dpi for high resolution or high enlargement scans. The FineScan 2750XL’s technology provides incredible scanning speeds of up to 75 35mm scans an hour (300 percent @ 300dpi) and 50 6x7 scans per hour (250 percent @ 300dpi). Additionally, the FineScan 2750XL also features Fujifilm’s advanced XY technology, which can locate an image and move the scan head directly underneath it to ensure high-quality scans from originals placed anywhere on the scanner bed, allowing users to take advantage of the entire scanner bed and still achieve maximum quality. Fujifilm’s ColourKit scanning software, recently updated to version 4.0,is bundled with the FineScan 2750XL and puts users firmly in control of image handling and manipulation with its powerful batch scanning and editing capabilities. The ColourKit software is integrated simply into any RGB or CMYK workflow, and the optional ICC profiling (ColourKit Profiler Suite) ensures compatibility with the user’s existing color-managed environment. Additionally, Fujifilm has announced the availability of an oil mounting unit to compliment the FineScan 2750XL and Quattro color scanners. Because the oil mounting unit was designed exclusively for use with Fujifilm input products, users get high quality results every time. The oil mounting unit gives users a number of benefits, including: • scratches and imperfections are filled by oil and are dramatically reduced in output image. • dust is dispersed from the transparency. • the appearance of transparency grain in high magnification scans is greatly reduced. • color gradations appear much smoother. • a perceived enhancement of color and image quality. • time savings in post-scan retouching. • availability for “revival” of old library stock for future use and digital storage. The FineScan 2750XL and Quattro are available exclusively through Enovation Graphic Systems, Inc. For more information on these and other products, visit www.getitfromtheexperts.com.
