Océ PRISMAproduction TDM Solution Meets Rigors of Transactional Direct Mailers

Press release from the issuing company

Boca Raton, FL – Canon Solutions America, Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of Canon U.S.A., today announced the Océ PRISMAproduction™ TDM solution.  From indexing to bar coding, from maximizing postal savings to piece mail tracking, the Océ PRISMAproduction TDM solution combines the power of production management and performance measurement, so customers can have the confidence they are running the most efficient and cost effective print production facility around.

Open Architecture: From JDF/JMF, PDF, AFP, Océ, non-Océ…we’ve got you covered
With PRISMAproduction, customers can connect to a wide array of input streams coming from multiple sources like the web, mainframes, networks, scans and publishing systems.  Through the open integration capability of JDF/JMF, PRISMAproduction can integrate with MIS systems like efi Pace or an Offset workflow like Apogee.  Customers can also use PRISMAproduction to communicate to intelligent post processing systems to help automate much of the entire workflow after print and to help streamline the need for reprinting.

“With PRISMAproduction as a core component, the TDM solution opens up opportunities for customers to produce a wide array of applications,” said Buddy Mountcastle, Marketing Executive, Workflow Solutions, Production Printing Solutions Division, Canon Solutions America.  “Applications such as financial statements, healthcare Explanation of Benefits, direct mail pieces and other customer communication documents can all be processed and prepared seamlessly through PRISMA to any print engine.”

TDM Package: Targeted to transactional/direct mail
Once into the PRISMAproduction TDM solution, users’ jobs can go through a number of processes to ensure that the file is complete with all of the necessary fonts, resources, barcodes, sorting, indexing and any other pre-flighting needs.  With the ability to integrate into other systems like those for composition, address cleansing, inserter control, or proofing, PRISMAproduction provides customers a single source of control to manage all the needs of the applications to be printed.

“Some of today’s TDM applications require the need for indexing, sorting and barcoding so that they can be prepared for the best possible postal savings and then tracked through the entire print production cycle for integrity,” said Michael Poulin, Manager Cutsheet and Workflow Solutions, Production Printing Solutions Division, Canon Solutions America.  “The Océ PRISMAproduction TDM package helps our customers maximize their bottom line and position them to their customers as secure, dependable, and more than capable of handling today’s rigorous TDM requirements.”

Having strong partner relations with vendors like Ironsides APT for piece level tracking, Bell & Howell BCC Mail Manager for postal optimization, or GMC Inspire for VDP and multi-channel delivery, integration with the PRISMAproduction TDM solution addresses customer’s specific needs.

To inkjet and beyond
Many production applications combine raw data with a pre-printed form.  For many years, this was the only way to handle applications such as statements and direct mail pieces.  However, with the introduction of full color inkjet systems and functionality within the Océ PRISMAproduction TDM solution, this process can be improved greatly.

Within PRISMAproduction, the forms that used to be pre-printed on a roll of paper can now be stored electronically in PRISMAproduction as a resource and then paired with the raw data as it comes into PRISMA, allowing for customers to eliminate the need for a pre-printed roll and take advantage of the full color inkjet systems like the Océ ColorStream 3000 series or Océ JetStream systems.
