EFI Sells Unimobile Assets to VeriSign

FOSTER CITY, Calif.--March 22, 2004-- EFI, the world leader in digital imaging and print management solutions for commercial and enterprise printing, today announced the sale of its Unimobile(TM) mobile messaging platform assets to VeriSign, Inc.. VeriSign is the leading provider of critical infrastructure services for the Internet and telecommunications networks. VeriSign paid EFI $5.25 million in cash and will service all existing Unimobile customer contracts. "We are pleased to have found a great home at VeriSign for the Unimobile business and its technology, customers and dedicated employees. This is a good move for both of our companies," said Michael Chai, Vice President, EFI Enterprise Solutions Group. "EFI remains focused on delivering world-class enterprise printing solutions for our customers, including remote device monitoring alerts to mobile devices such as pagers, PDAs and cell phones." "VeriSign is pleased to acquire both the Unimobile technology and members of the talented team behind it to help us address our customers' needs for reliable, secure mobile messaging services," said Vernon Irvin, executive vice president, VeriSign Communications Services. As a result of the sale, EFI will recognize a one-time GAAP net income gain of approximately $0.03 per share in the first quarter of 2004.
