Laurel Company Receives Top Award in Industry Competition

Press release from the issuing company

Columbia, MD - Westland Printers, a company located in Laurel, MD, has earned the Grand Q in the 9th annual Excellence in Print Awards competition. This is the second consecutive year the firm has received the Grand Q, which is the regional printing industry’s highest honor. The award was presented during the Excellence in Print Awards ceremony and reception, which was held March 21st at Martin’s Crosswinds in Greenbelt, MD.

An independent panel of industry judges reviewed hundreds of submitted printed pieces and chose the Grand Q recipient, along with other award-winning entries, based on qualities such as precision of color reproduction, use of design, and level of technical difficulty. Earning the seal of “Excellence in Print Award Winner” is a coveted achievement in the extremely competitive printing industry, and recipients use the recognition to further market their unique services. The contest is open to members of PGAMA, a trade association for commercial printers, engravers, embossers, binders/finishers, and designer businesses located throughout Maryland, Virginia, Southern Pennsylvania and Washington, D.C.

In addition to the Grand Q, special awards were also given to Bindagraphics (Baltimore, MD) for Best Binding & Finishing; MOSAIC (Cheverly, MD), for Judges Choice; Colorcraft of Virginia (Sterling, VA) for Best Digital Piece and Best Use of Photography; Linemark (Upper Marlboro, MD) for Best Use of Paper; and Mount Vernon Printing (Baltimore, MD) for Most Unique Use of Design. Westland Printers also took home the award for Best Use of Color. Attendees of the event voted on the People’s Choice Award winner, an honor that went to Linemark this year. 71 companies also received a Best of Category Award during the ceremony. The complete list of award recipients is posted on www.pgama.com.
