Labels in Motion Buys Xeikon 3500 To Help Launch Digital Nutraceutical Labels Business

Press release from the issuing company

Itasca, IL - Xeikon NV, an innovator in digital color printing technology, announced today that Labels in Motion, an Orlando, FL-based label printing company, has purchased and installed a Xeikon 3500 digital label press to handle production of customized labels for the nutraceutical market.

Labels in Motion is a subsidiary of XYMOGEN®, an independent health sciences company with more than 25 years of experience providing quality vitamin supplements to healthcare practitioners. XYMOGEN had been outsourcing label production to other companies, but the management team decided to bring the digital label operations in-house, and Labels in Motion was founded.

The Xeikon 3500 is based in a new 135,000-square-foot manufacturing facility, and is used not only for printing XYMOGEN product labels, but also serves other companies in the health and wellness, as well as food and beverage markets.

Manon Chin, chief operating officer for Labels in Motion, said the company's strengths go much further than just outputting labels.

"It's more than just hitting 'Control-P' and watching labels fly out from the end of the press. It's ensuring our customers get what they need, when they need it," Chin said. "We're a new breed of label printing company. We are trying to make a heavy impact within the market, and the Xeikon 3500 offers the quality, productivity, flexibility and uptime to help get us there."

The Xeikon 3500 has a monthly production volume of 3.8 million square feet. As a result, users have plenty of room to grow their business. In addition, the press can handle web widths of up to 20.3 inches allowing users to print regular sized labels with higher throughput and even produce larger labels. According to Chin, the press' uptime and one-pass white printing capabilities, used to print metallic or clear labels, were both major selling points.

Equipped with high-precision LED-based imaging heads, the Xeikon 3500 features true 1200 dpi resolution with variable dot density, generating excellent image quality. The Xeikon 3500 is equipped with five color stations, four for the standard process colors and the fifth station for the use of gamut expansion colors or a one-pass opaque white toner or a security toner for anti-counterfeiting applications.

"We are seeing more and more companies like Labels in Motion who have a vision to be leaders in creating labels that have an impact on the consumer, and recognize the compelling advantages of speed, quality and versatility that the Xeikon 3000 Series of label presses offer," said Michael V. Ring, president of Xeikon America Inc. "It's great to see Labels in Motion seizing the opportunity and we're very pleased to partner with them."
