Kodak’s Document Imaging Business Earns Top Product Awards from Document Manager and Better Buys for Business

Press release from the issuing company

Rochester, NY - Kodak’s Document Imaging business has received highest honors from Document Manager magazine and Better Buys for Business for raising the bar for desktop and workgroup document scanning. The KODAK SCANMATE i940 Scanner was chosen as the “Innovative Product of the Year” by Better Buys for Business (BBB), and the KODAK i2000 Series Scanners won the Document Manager DM Award in the workgroup scanner category.

“The i940 and the i2000 Series reflect our ongoing commitment to creating innovative products that are easy to use and put the needs of customers and business workers first,” said Budd Webster, Kodak’s Worldwide Business and Category Director for Document Imaging. “This focus results in greater reliability, efficiency and productivity that businesses rely on for the extraction of valuable paper-based information.”

The compact, portable, cloud-connected i940 meets the dynamic needs of both on-the-go and desktop professionals by quickly converting paper documents into digital files for easier distribution and information management. The i2000 Series Scanners feature an innovative exterior that serves as its own traveling case. With the stow-or-go design, users can return their scanners to an upright position and use the built-in handle for easy carrying. Both scanners deliver outstanding imaging capabilities out of the box from space-saving designs.

Document Manager magazine has been around for more than 20 years now, so our readers know their stuff when they vote for a product in the DM Awards,” said Dave Tyler, editor. “The workgroup and departmental scanning sector is a highly competitive one at the moment and I think it’s fair to say that Kodak is doing everything right with the i2000 series: it’s simple to deploy and use, robust, and includes some of the best software around in KODAK Capture Desktop Software and iThresholding.”

Using Kodak’s Smart Touch functionality, users can accurately capture documents into JPEG, TIFF, Word, or PDF formats and share the information among colleagues by sending the documents directly to email, Microsoft SharePoint and other shared networked folders. The i940 also features extended connectivity for cloud-based portals such as Evernote, Box or Go-Docs. This connectivity ensures that users can access and distribute their vital information remotely for improved collaboration and management.

“The SCANMATE i940 Scanner offers advanced features at a competitive price,” said Melissa Pardo Bunte, Editor of Better Buys for Business. “It combines robust imaging with portability, which allows users to scan and share high-quality documents from virtually anywhere.”

The i940 and i2000 Series Scanners also use Kodak’s Perfect Page Technology to deliver a number of image enhancement tools that produce high-quality imaging on each capture. Perfect Page automatically improves the quality, brightness and contrast of a scanned image, and users can adjust the image quality even further through deskew, image rotation, electronic color dropout, content-based blank page removal and cropping.
