Epson Projectors Support Community Growth in Brazil

Press release from the issuing company

Brazil - Epson has used its powerful Powerlite Pro Z8000WUNL projectors to launch its Cinemão project in recently pacified parts of Brazil.

For years, some parts of Brazil have suffered a seemingly unending cycle of poverty, crime and violence. However, as the country looks forward to hosting the Olympic Games and the FIFA World Cup, the Brazilian government has sought to pacify some of the most dangerous areas.

As the world projection leader for more than a decade, Epson has leveraged its projectors to bring community spirit and hope to public spaces previously marked by violence and lack of cultural development. The project uses film - and Epson's high-brightness, high-resolution premium professional projectors - as tools for promoting the participation of marginalized groups.

The first movie viewing was conducted on February 23 in the Olympic Village in Gamboa, Rio de Janeiro. With a strong desire to promote, disseminate and promote culture through cinema, Epson turned the public space into a free movie theater for residents of the area.

The Cinemão project will screen 288 films at weekends with viewings to be followed by discussions among filmmakers and the local community. The project is expected to reach more than 150,000 people, including children, youth and adults.
