Burton & Mayer Thrives While Celebrating Seventy-Five Years

Press release from the issuing company

Menomonee Falls, Wisconsin - Burton & Mayer, once a store specializing in wedding invitations and stationery, today is celebrating 75 years of business, thriving on a mix of older printing processes and the latest technology available to the industry. Although the company still maintains and staffs a letterpress department for foil stamping, embossing, and diecutting, it has also invested in the digital revolution in the prepress department and has installed an all-digital workflow with computer-to-plate units and digital printing equipment.

“We proudly look back to our founding in 1938,” said Tim Burton, President and third generation co-owner, Burton & Mayer. “But fast forward to today and check out our current investment in new technologies to better serve our customers in a state-of-the-art graphic arts facility in Menomonee Falls.”

Burton & Mayer bought its first offset press and started the transition away from letterpress printing in 1946 and has since made a habit of capitalizing on the printing industry’s newest technologies.

The company has recently installed a new eight-color perfecting Komori press with cutting-edge technology, two new digital printing devices, and most recently, three large-format UV inkjet printing units capable of finishing the product in-line.

“Our investments in the latest technology allow us to be a complete one-stop shop for our customers,” Burton explains. “These new inkjet units can print window signage, short-run brochures, pocket folders, vinyl and cloth banners, backlit signs, floor and counter mats, and much, much more. The possibilities are endless. And the color images are managed through our G-7 certification, which guarantees a match across all printing platforms.

“We have survived and thrived for seventy-five years with relentless dedication to our customers, and continuous investment in new equipment and services,” said Burton.
