IPA Color Proofing RoundUP II Will Offer Wide-Ranging Proofing Comparison

Press release from the issuing company

(March 18, 2004) The Color Proofing RoundUP is returning by popular demand as part of the 39th Annual IPA Technical Seminar, scheduled for June 8-10, 2004, at the Holiday Inn Mart Plaza, Chicago. When graphic solutions providers meet for the IPA Color Proofing RoundUP II, they will be exposed to an array of proofing solutions to evaluate and determine which solution best meets their individual needs as well as those of their clients. Attendees at the Color Proofing Roundup will gain a comprehensive understanding of the available color proofing solutions as well as key issues that effect color proofing. The RoundUP will examine a range of proofing system capabilities from over a dozen leading proofing manufacturers in order to give participants the best possible overview. In addition to evaluating color image quality and RIP performance, the RoundUP will provide a wide-ranging feature comparison and cost analysis that includes system pricing as well expenses associated with consumables and maintenance. Commenting on the Proofing RoundUP, Mike Rodriguez, R.R. Donnelley, said, "Attendees at the IPA Color Proofing RoundUP will see and hear how today's proofing systems perform and gather information that will help them achieve expert proofing results." Vendors participating in the RoundUP will be evaluated on the visual correlation of their proofs to images on GRACoL (General Requirements for Applications in Commercial Offset Lithography) Press Sheets and, separately, on colorimetric measurement (Lab delta-E) correlation to reference characterization, CGATS-DTR004. In addition they will be asked to proof specialized test pages to assess RIP speed, overprint correctness, spot-color, and color management support. The RoundUP provides vendors an opportunity to demonstrate their systems capabilities while acquiring a greater appreciation for what needs to be done to address customer concerns. Noting the benefits of participating in the IPA Color Proofing RoundUP, Patrick Floody, Creo, said, "For Creo, it is an excellent opportunity to demonstrate our proofing and color capabilities to industry leaders in a forum that offers objective comparisons with meaningful feedback." IPA Technical Seminar and Color Proofing RoundUP event details will be available soon at www.ipa.org. For information or to receive a brochure, call IPA at (800)255-8141.
