Press release from the issuing company

Kansas City, Mo. – Barry Wilson, Chair of Pittsburg State University’s Graphics and Imaging Technologies program, has been named recipient of the Jerry Watson Educator of the Year by the Printing and Imaging Association (PIA) of MidAmerica. He will be recognized at the PIA MidAmerica Graphex Awards Gala in Kansas City on May 9, 2013.

Wilson is being recognized for his commitment to education and the printing industry and his skills as an instructor. The award is named after the late Jerry Watson, a legendary graphic arts instructor. Wilson, who received a B.S. Degree from the College of the Ozarks in Missouri, was guided by Jerry Watson while working at the schools in-plant facility. Upon graduation, Wilson broadened his experience in both industry and education working in various in-plant facilities and achieving M.S. Degree from Central Missouri State University (now University of Central Missouri). In 2009, he was honored with the Print and Graphics Scholarship Foundation’s (PGSF) Educator of the Year Award.

“We are really pleased that Barry is this year’s recipient,” stated PIA MidAmerica’s president, Joe Polanco. “I’ve been fortunate to know Barry for the past five years and have been pleased with his commitment to students and our industry. He is thought of highly by his peers and well deserving of this recognition.”

Barry and his wife Shelly, who he met while attending College of the Ozarks, have two children, Melaina (7) and Bo (4).
