UV Flatbed Printing Makes High Quantity Custom Phone Cases Possible

Press release from the issuing company

Chicago, IL - Many technologies are in use today to print custom iPhone and iPad cases, such as dye-sub, lamination, aqueous or solvent inkjet, etc. Most of these machines are table-top units with slow print speed and limitations on the type of cases that can be used. Many of these cases suffer from common quality problems including streaking, banding, peeling, fading, smudging, scratching, and inconsistent colors.

The best custom phone cases are typically printed on UV flatbed presses. These presses represent the latest in digital printing technology, featuring high resolution, vibrant colors, no peeling, no fading, and with the right color management, extremely stable and consistent color. But with costs so high (the cost of a true UV flatbed press ranges from $250K to well north of $2 million), these presses are often out of reach of specialty markets such as iPhone and iPad case printing. Watch a video here.

To serve this niche market and bring affordable UV flatbed printing to the masses, Chicago-based iGearUnlimited is launching a wholesale program to help case makers around the world make high quality gadget cases that are both beautiful and durable. iGearUnlimited is a G7 Qualified Master Printer which means it meets the highest industry standards in terms of color accuracy and consistency.

"Awesome quality phone cases require awesome imaging technology." says Jimmy Sun, president of iGearUnlimited. "To achieve the best combination of image quality and speed, iGear only uses high-end presses with true flatbed design, magnetic-linear transport system, and on-the-fly nozzle remapping technology to eliminate banding and streaking."

Customers can choose to print on iGear’s phone cases, or supply their own blank cases for printing. There are many ways to submit files for printing... individual artwork can be uploaded to the company’s web-to-print website using an HTML 5 based Interactive Designer, and bulk artwork can be supplied in pre-imposed PDF format to match up with layout templates. Fulfillment programs are available tailored to client’s specific needs.

The company offers custom cases for iPhone 4/4S/5, Samsung S3, iPad 2/3/4, and iPad Mini. Its custom iPad case is the only customizable case on the market that also offers thin profile yet durable full body protection.

Customers can send their own artwork for printing or select from the company’s classic fine art collection. iGearUnlimited offers a stock photo library with close to 8,000 high-resolution fine art images from the world’s most famous artists, including Van Gogh, Monet, Da Vinci, Rembrandt, Cezanne, and more.
