SpotOn! Press President Bruce Bayne Earns Certification as Printing Standards Audit Consultant

Press release from the issuing company

Rochester, New York – SpotOn! Press today announced that founder Bruce Bayne has become one of only 15 printing professionals now certified as Printing Standards Audit (PSA) Consultants. Training for certification (the first PSA consultant training in North America). The training and certification was held January 16-17, 2013, in New York City’s Time-Life Building. The PSA consultant certification session was organized by the Printing Applications Laboratory (PAL) at Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT), Rochester, NY, USA.

PSA Certification

Printing Standards Audit is a rigorous, objective process for assessing a printer’s ability to operate a standards compliant workflow. Such workflows are fundamental to creating efficient print supply chains, especially as printers adopt new technologies and supply chains become more international in character. By attaining PSA Certification, printers can objectively demonstrate that they have mastered the use of standards in the workflows they operate. The Printing Applications Laboratory (PAL) leverages expertise from across the RIT campus in areas such as imaging and color science, engineering, packaging, and materials science to provide a world-class platform for advanced studies of primary relevance today.

The training was conducted by RIT Gravure Research Professor Robert Chung, an internationally known authority on printing standards, with the assistance of IDEAlliance, a global community of content and media creators, and their service providers, material suppliers, and technology partners. All 15 attendees were IDEAlliance G7 PC (Process Control) Experts. Participants traveled from as far as Ireland to take the two days of intensive class work and a comprehensive examination.

Professor Chung said, “Leading the consultant training was a great experience because the instructional objectives were achieved and appreciated by all, and – although the final exam was tough – each one of the participants passed. I could not have expected more.” Professor Chung further commented, “IDEAlliance will recognize the printer as the GRACoL Certified Printer if the printer demonstrates GRACoL dataset conformity in a PSA audit and is a G7 Master Printer. A G7 PC Expert, who is also a PSA Consultant, can assist the printer in the G7 Master Printer preparation, as well as the PSA preparation phase. Offering the PSA Consultant Training to G7 PC Experts makes perfect sense as RIT introduces PSA into the North American printing market.”
