Enfocus Software Donates Site License to Rochester Institute of Technology

Rochester, NY and San Mateo, Calif. —March 15, 2004—Enfocus Software and Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT) announce that Enfocus has granted RIT a full site license for Enfocus’ full line of PDF workflow solutions, comprised of PitStop Professional, PitStop Server, Instant PDF and www.CertifiedPDF.net, the industry standard for PDF quality assurance. The donation from Enfocus will benefit thousands of students at RIT’s renowned College of Imaging Arts and Sciences, including its School of Print Media (SPM). According to RIT’s Erich Lehman, SPM Prepress Facilities Coordinator, “This substantial donation from Enfocus Software will be used to enhance learning opportunities for RIT’s students, giving the thousands of future print and graphic arts professionals the opportunity to get a head start on using the best PDF workflow solutions available. We highly value partnerships with leading companies like Enfocus, whose support allows us to stay on the cutting edge of technology in the graphic arts.” Professor Michael Kleper, Paul and Louise Miller Distinguished Professor, says, "PDF technology is not only at the core of our digital workflows, but is the basis for virtually all of the resource materials that we distribute to students. Enfocus’ PDF products are essential tools for creating and editing the large number of PDF files that we routinely deal with. We are very pleased to have the Enfocus solutions available." “RIT deserves its prestigious international reputation as the premiere graphic arts education center, and we at Enfocus feel privileged to continue to work with its top-notch professors and students,” says Enfocus North America Director of Marketing, Sean Hiss. “The industry at-large will benefit by this grant, as RIT graphic arts and print graduates will enter the profession prepared to implement and successfully run PDF workflows anchored by the industry standard, PitStop Professional.” Enfocus PDF Solutions in Two Labs at RIT College of Imaging Arts and Sciences/School of Print Media Enfocus’ PDF Workflow solutions are being used at two main labs at the College of Imaging Arts and Sciences, including the campus’ Digital Publishing Center (DPC). The PC is a student-run printing center serving the entire College of Imaging Arts & Sciences. DPC policies mandate that all jobs come in as PDFs. Enfocus solutions such as PitStop Professional allows the students to check, auto-correct and fix “bad” PDF files. Says Lehman, “Our primary use for the Enfocus solutions are for troubleshooting PDFs down in the Digital Publishing Center. We've found Enfocus’ PDF tools to be lifesavers, time and time again.” Lehman says RIT also plans to utilize Enfocus Instant PDF beginning this spring as a tool in both the School of Design and School of Photographic Arts and Sciences, to aid in creating good PDFs for their respective output facilities. RIT is also planning to utilize its subscription to www.CertifiedPDF.net, online resource for PDF specifications in near future.
