Contex Launches PageDrop Cloud-based Solution

Thursday, January 31, 2013

Press release from the issuing company

Contex, the world’s leading developer of wide format scanning and imaging solutions, today announces PageDrop, a cloud-based application to process wide format scans.

The new solution is based on customer feedback from users that wanted a mobile solution for single-page scanning and distribution. PageDrop’s cloud-based service lets users--with any smartphone or web-enabled tablet--transfer Contex-scanned images to a variety of destinations, including Dropbox, HP ePrint, and email. Users simply scan a QR code that is unique to each Contex scanner, and then select a destination for the scanned image. Basic paper and image settings make the process easy. PageDrop is a free service, now available for the Contex IQ 2490 wide format scanner.

“PageDrop is revolutionary in the wide format scanning market. It provides more convenience using today’s latest tools and technologies, untethering the user from the PC,” comments Jacob Bendix, GM, Contex EMEA-AP and Head of Contex Marketing.

PageDrop eliminates the need for scanning software or PCs to process single page, wide format scans. With Contex’s GB Ethernet access on its scanners, scanned images are quickly converted to PDF and distributed through the network and its cloud services. A built-in security feature requires mobile users to be in close proximity of the scanner to use PageDrop. Preferences stay with the mobile device, placing the scanned documents directly where the user needs them, every time.

Contact your local Contex distributor to begin using PageDrop.
