Franklin Southland Group buys Xerox 6060 from Enovation

Press release from the issuing company

HANOVER PARK, Ill., March 2004 – “We’re going to have a lot of fun with this new machine,” Richard Lizotte, owner of the Franklin Southland Group, says excitedly. He’s talking, of course, about the new Xerox DocuColor 6060 that his company recently purchased and installed. “We’re quite excited about it.” The Franklin Southland Group, located in Metairie, La., consists of three business entities – Franklin Southland Printing, Impact Data & Mail and Cypress Litigation (a legal copy services company) – and continues to thrive and grow, thanks to a dedication to the newest technologies. “We utilize the most current technologies available to our industry,” continues Lizotte. “Our state-of-the-art equipment allows us to provide our clients with high-quality products fast and less-expensively than our competition.” That dedication to the newest technologies has consisted of a conversion to an all-digital workflow and computer-to-plate capabilities for Franklin Southland Printing and, most recently, the installation of the DocuColor 6060 digital color press, which specializes in on-demand printing and variable data printing. “Variable data printing is a major future growth segment,” Lizotte concludes, “and the 6060 gives us a tremendous competitive advantage.” The new Xerox DocuColor 6060 offers a more advanced set of features, productivity and capabilities that appeal to customers needing a "workhorse" digital press. The digital color press prints 60 full-color pages per minute or 3,600 images per hour and offers resolution of 600 x 600 pixels per inch with a full eight bits of color depth per pixel. It also delivers improved color consistency and front-to-back registration required by discriminating printers. “We really chose the device because of Enovation,” says Lizotte, who spent six months looking at a variety of options from a number of manufacturers. “The other companies just didn’t have the technical support that Enovation does and that makes a difference for us. That, and they were able to network everything together so smoothly. “I’ve been dealing with the same sales rep for seven years and we literally put all of our investment money in digital prepress capabilities with them a couple of years ago,” he says. “They installed our CTP machine and we were burning plates in 24 hours. That’s the kind of service we get from them.” Not only does Lizotte believe that new equipment gives him a competitive advantage, but that it also contributes to the companies’ success. “Our industry just came off the worst recession in 30 years, yet we managed to experience tremendous growth,” he reasons. “We grew 21 percent, compared to many industry leaders that only experienced a 3 to 5 percent growth.” But, he says, with the new equipment, he anticipates another strong year for 2004.
