Buhrs sells intelligent packaging solutions to Japan

Press release from the issuing company

Buhrs recently sold two new intelligent packaging solutions that are specially developed to meet the requirements of Japanese mail order specialist PAL Systems.

‘This is truly a very large project and an important investment’, says Kim Ying Lee, CEO of Buhrs. ‘These systems are capable of picking a selection from up to 26 different items in one run, by using a gathering section with selective feeders. In this way, each and every mail pack is unique, containing specially selected content. Customer-specific information is being collected from a large customer database, to create and print out a personalized “shopping list”. Every list is then packed together with printed materials that are relevant to the individual customer. Customized software is key to this solution. Buhrs has shared its international know-how and experience here with the customer, in order to jointly develop this application. The mail packs are now gathered on a custom made system. The number of packs per month varies, but can go up to some 800,000 pieces, on a total annual volume of 41.6 million mail packs. Why did this Japanese mail order specialist again choose Buhrs as its solution provider? It is all about trust (there is an installed base of four similar Buhrs systems at this client already), quality, sustainability and our ability to understand and work with the client to develop a perfectly fitting solution’.
