Düsseldorf, Germany — Enhanced productivity features on its short-run and mid-range saddle stitchers and a new generation of stackers will be among the innovations Muller Martini premieres at drupa, May 6-19, in Hall 14. Valore, the company’s short-run-to-mid-range saddle stitching system, will be available with new tilt-back feeders. The feature, which is available now on new Valores, equips the system to handle oversize and special format signatures not suitable for automatic feeding. Another Valore innovation, which is available now and will have its trade show debut at drupa, is a modular belt delivery system that features plug-in connections and is mounted on casters. The optional delivery can easily be moved in and out of the Valore workflow for quick integration of other in-line production modules. The new delivery belt features shingle stream separation controlled by conveyor belt acceleration for precise and smooth operation. Valore achieves a throughput of 6,000 cycles per hour, features a space-saving, compact design and is easy to operate, thanks to its digitally directed controls. BravoPlus with Amrys, the only fully automatic system in its class that provides JDF and JMF networking, will also demonstrate several productivity upgrades at Muller Martini’s drupa exhibit. It will run with new high-speed mass reduced stitching heads for improved responsiveness and debut a new optical Asir3 signature detection system for enhanced quality control. The new option provides automatic changeover from barcode reading to image recognition to broaden the user’s range of quality control choices. (Asir3 will be available on all machines that feature Muller Martini’s signature detection system option.) Meanwhile, a fully automated PrimaPlus Amrys saddle stitching system will be the focus of Muller Martini’s participation in PrintCity. That exhibit features innovations from a variety of graphic arts manufacturers with the objective of demonstrating the advantages of networked production. “As a charter member of the CIP4 and NGP initiatives, Muller Martini is widely considered to be the postpress leader in network integration,” says Werner Naegeli, President and CEO of Muller Martini Corp. “Our key presence in PrintCity reinforces our leadership role.” New Compensating Stackers Premiere Sharing the spotlight will be two new compensating stackers from Muller Martini — one designed for 16,000 cycles/hour production and the other providing a 30,000 cycles/hour top speed. The new models will be demonstrated at drupa in-line with various saddle stitchers. Both new stackers are designed for ease of operation, thanks to their optimized operator interface (MMAP control), and easily accessible, individual infeed belts. A new turntable and ejector concept will improve their reliable layer and stack building capabilities.
