Christmas cards Preferred to e-cards

Hatfield, UK, - A new survey conducted by Pitney Bowes has revealed that as far as Christmas cards are concerned, the real thing is overwhelmingly more popular than its more up-to-date rival, the e-card.
Email is generally felt to be one of the most effective methods of communication and with this in mind, Pitney Bowes asked 1,080 consumers in the UK whether they preferred an e-card to a 'real' Christmas card. An overwhelming 85% voted for the latter.
Nearly 40% said this was because it was lovely to think someone cared enough to write and post a card, and more than 46% said it was because this kind of card was more personal than an e-card.
Six per cent said they felt e-cards were preferable because they help reduce one's carbon footprint and two per cent of those asked said they didn't like Christmas cards cluttering up their house.
Simon Martindill, Head of Marketing of Pitney Bowes Global Mailing Solutions, said: "It seems we're still traditionalists at heart, which is rather cheering to know at this time of year."
