Free PaperSpecs Webinar: Packaging Panache

Press release from the issuing company

Thursday, November 29, 2011
2:00 p.m. Eastern (11:00 a.m. Pacific)

PaperSpecs and Neenah Paper present the free webinar: Packaging Panache. Packaging designer and co-founder of the Un- Studio, Kathrin Blatter, will provide tips on how to use paper to design boxes that beg to be opened.

Palo Alto, California - If you designed packaging for a client, which scenario would you prefer?

A. The normally mild-mannered consumer rips open the box you designed like a sleep-deprived kid hopped up on sugar cookies in the darkness of Christmas morning, unable to contain her excitement to get to the contents.

B. The barely-has-time-to-breathe consumer comes to a mental halt so abrupt it actually causes a sigh to escape his mouth as he is compelled to carefully open this amazing box so it can be studied, admired, maybe even saved.

If you answered "C" (Why can't I cause both reactions?) then you're definitely a designer, and PaperSpecs' next free webinar "Packaging Panache" will provide great tips and how-tos for you.

Special guest speaker Kathrin Blatter, a co-founder of Un- Studio, has a passion for packaging design and is a branding expert with over a decade of experience helping clients like Verve Coffee Roasters, The North Face and Pigeonroof Studios tell its brand story through packaging.

"Packaging is the most exciting discipline of all graphic design. It's the one that's the most tactile. It's 3D and has an incredibly geeky element," says Blatter who views it as a true calling.

During the webinar, Blatter will provide helpful packaging design tips and show you how to:

  • Blow away your client
  • Design for all budgets
  • Deal with the "flavor clutter"
  • Make boxes exciting with paper
  • Reduce waste in meaningful ways

"In talking with Kathrin about this webinar, I found her insight into packaging design really eye-opening," says Sabine Lenz, founder of PaperSpecs. "Her enthusiasm is contagious too. She had me thinking about what a creative opportunity it is to wrangle all the details."

From thinking about materials, incredibly precise dielines that perfectly marry with the paper, grids in 3D, and production logistics, Blatter will discuss the irresistible call of packaging design.

If you agree that package prototypes might be exciting enough to make your heart skip a beat or two (or if you're wondering what you've been missing), then PaperSpecs invites you to register for this special event.

Thanks to the generous support of Neenah Paper, the webinar is free. Space is limited though, so be sure to reserve your seat today for "Packaging Panache – Designing in 3D" webinar at www.paperspecs.com/webinar.
