EFI Demonstrates JDF and CIM Workflow at On Demand

Press release from the issuing company

NEW YORK--March 8, 2004-- EFI, the world leader in digital imaging and print management solutions for commercial and enterprise printing, will showcase JDF connectivity across its product line from submission and prepress to print MIS products at On Demand (booth 3119), demonstrating how printers can streamline operations and increase profitability with fully integrated end-to-end workflows. EFI is committed to open JDF standards throughout its product line and in its partnerships with companies like Screen USA, Adobe and Heidelberg. JDF is the open standard job ticketing language enabling interoperability across the printing process. JDF solutions on display at the EFI booth include EFI Exchange(TM), EFI OneFlow(TM), EFI Balance(TM), EFI Proofing Solutions with Best(TM) technology, EFI Press Connector, EFI Prepress Connector and EFI Hagen OA(TM). The company is also participating in CIP4's JDF demonstration booth, showing how EFI OneFlow, EFI Balance and EFI Hagen OA are connected to an end-to-end workflow. "The On Demand conference provides the perfect venue for demonstrating open standards and interoperability," said Ghilad Dziesietnik, EFI Vice President of Workflow Products. "EFI is committed to bringing the benefits of open CIM to its customers by providing JDF-enabled systems. The JDF flow of information creates the foundation for Computer Integrated Manufacturing, where shared information leads to more efficient processes, reduced turnaround time and increased profits." Visitors to the booth will be able to walk through a complete print shop workflow highlighting the following: EFI Exchange automates the print job order management process and enables print centers to leverage the Internet to communicate with their customers 24/7. EFI OneFlow provides a range of digital tools to streamline the in-shop workflow, from order receiving to remote proofing to approvals. It offers advanced digital prepress capabilities in an easy-to-use, cost-effective software solution for any computer-to-plate, computer-to-film, direct imaging, or digital printing environment. EFI Balance workflow software manages the most demanding and complex jobs effectively across multiple printers regardless of brand. Fiery Print Servers handle complex print jobs with speed and ease, providing unmatched color output, industry-leading variable data printing support and the Fiery Graphic Arts Package. EFI Press Connector and Prepress Connector, both JDF-based integration modules, enable the EFI print management solutions (such as EFI Hagen OA) to send and receive critical business data, such as job lists, press counts, materials consumption and labor costs, with press equipment and the prepress workflow. JDF is an open standard, job ticketing language that provides the foundation for customers to build next-generation printing environments that encompass both the content and the business aspects of production workflow. EFI's JDF activities at On Demand are aimed at helping printers understand how they can apply JDF today, and how EFI's best-of-class products incorporating JDF support will help printers streamline their operations, increase their profitability and attract new business through value added services.
