Tufco Technologies, Inc. Receives State Training Grant

GREEN BAY, WI (March 16, 2004)—On March 15, 2004, Governor James Doyle personally presented Tufco Technologies, Inc. with a $161,600 Customized Labor Training (CLT) grant to train employees on the expansion of new technology and increased production at its Ashwaubenon facility. The Company announced in December that it had been awarded several projects requiring significant investments in capital and human resources creating 76 full time positions. “My Grow Wisconsin Initiative calls for investing in worker training so that we can enhance the skills of our employees and the competitiveness of our businesses,” said Gov. Jim Doyle. “I’m pleased that the Department of Commerce could partner with Tufco Technologies, Inc. on this training project.” Lou LeCalsey, President and CEO expressed his gratitude toward the state and State Senator Hansen who assisted in securing the grant. “This grant is positive proof that the state is focused on improving the business climate in Wisconsin. Our Company was determined to create job opportunities and support economic vitality in this region. In addition to the job creation supported by this grant, we earlier moved our corporate offices and support positions to Green Bay which additionally added new jobs in this area.” State Senator David Hansen stated, “At a time when other companies were looking to the south and overseas for cheap labor, Lou LeCalsey and Tufco moved their headquarters from Dallas to Green Bay because they understand what we’ve known all along – that the investment in our workforce is worth it because of our work ethic, high skill levels and productivity. Companies like Tufco are the type our state should be helping because they are committed to being here and they are committed to producing the best products possible.” Tufco’s Green Bay location is a business-to-business contract manufacturer providing wide web flexographic printing, wet and dry wipes, laminations and integrated packaging solutions.
