Polestar Proposes Closure Of Anglia Plant

Press release from the issuing company

March 4, 2004 -- The Polestar Group has today announced a proposal to close Polestar Anglia, its mini-web business based in Diss, Norfolk. The company employs a total of 56 staff. A formal 30-day consultation process with unions and employees over the proposal will begin immediately. It is intended that one of the company's two Heidelberg Web 8 presses will be moved to Polestar Colchester. This will result in additional job opportunities at Colchester, which Anglia employees may wish to apply for. The company's CTP and other ancillary equipment will be distributed across the Group's other sites. Group Operations Director Mike Bartlett says, "In the face of ongoing pressures, the Group is continuing its strategy of creating a smaller number of larger sites, to minimise overheads and to achieve better scale and efficiency. There are also particular issues relating to Polestar Anglia profitability." Subject to the consultation process, it is intended that advice and liaison with local job agencies will be provided by the company for employees.
