X-Rite Pantone Advanced Color Management at Graph Expo

Press release from the issuing company

X-Rite, Incorporated and its wholly owned subsidiary Pantone LLC will showcase some of the most advanced solutions in the measurement, management and communication of color for the pre-media and print industries at the Graph Expo 2012 trade fair to be held Oct. 7-10 in Chicago.

X-Rite Pantone representatives will demonstrate how premedia and pressroom personnel can achieve higher efficiencies and improved quality through standardized, automated workflows and precise measurement, communication and management of color data.

Held in conjunction with the Graph Expo, X-Rite will be presented with an InterTech star as a symbol of technological innovation and excellence before an audience of industry leaders during the 2012 Premier Print Awards Gala on Oct. 7. X-Rite was named a recipient of the prestigious 2012 InterTech Technology Award from the Printing Industries of America for its redesigned i1Pro 2 spectrophotometer.

Attendees can see X-Rite Pantone instrument and software demonstrations in cooperation with other exhibitors at 16 locations spread throughout the show at the McCormick Place South.  X-Rite Pantone personnel will be available to demonstrate and discuss solutions at:

  • Agfa Pitman – Booth #627: i1Publish Pro 2, X-Rite eXact and IntelliTrax
  • Esko -- Booth #427: i1Publish Pro 2, i1iO, X-Rite eXact, and PantoneLIVE
  • Color Management Group -- Booth #353: i1Publish Pro 2 and X-Rite eXact
  • Xpedx  -- Booth #1646: X-Rite eXact and IntelliTrax

Several new solutions that were recently unveiled at the drupa 2012 show in Düsseldorf, Germany will be shown at Graph Expo 2012. X-Rite representatives will give a technology demonstration of the X-Rite eXact, a new spectrophotometer platform that incorporates the latest touch-and-swipe navigation technology and intuitive software to make color measurements quick and easy for pressroom personnel, including ways to monitor and control color the new and emerging ISO standards.

Attendees can learn more about X-Rite's new i1Pro 2 spectrophotometer that was selected for an InterTech star in recognition of its "ability to precisely measure substrates with different levels of optical brighteners using the new M0, M1 and M2 standards, allowing color management to be further improved," said Dr. Mark Bohan, Vice President, Technology and Research at Printing Industries of America. "It is a cost-effective and versatile solution that overcomes the problem created by optical brighteners in color critical work."

Demonstrations of the newly enhanced i1Pro 2 platform will be held at the Color Management Group and Esko booths. At the Agfa Pitman and Xpedx booths, X-Rite personnel will give the latest developments in IntelliTrax technologies for newspapers and other media.

Visitors to the Esko booth can also learn about PantoneLIVE, which has established itself as an indispensible tool for effective color management for all stakeholders in the supply chain. The precise spectral data for trademark colors of brand owners and the PANTONE Color Libraries are stored in a secure site on the cloud so they can be accessed anytime and anywhere in the world by PantoneLIVE licensed customers.

Brand owners specify the desired colors from their portals, working with designers who access the approved color palette using Adobe Illustrator plug-ins such as PantoneLIVE Color Book and Viewer. Premedia personnel can access correct color files using Esko ColorEngine and generate proofs of the work using Esko FlexProof E or GMG ColorProof.

Also on display will be the PANTONE D65 Lighting Indicator Stickers. Similar to the D50 Lighting Indicator Stickers, the D65 Lighting Indicator Stickers make it easy for designers and manufacturers to determine if colors are being viewed under the right lighting conditions for accurate color evaluation, specification and matching. Whereas D50 lighting is commonly used for evaluating printed design work and photography, D65 is commonly used to evaluate the color of textiles, paints, plastics and other manufactured products.  Attendees can also view the 336 New Colors that have been recently added to the PANTONE PLUS SERIES, bringing the total number of color standards to 1,677. The PANTONE PLUS SERIES provides an accurate way for designers to communicate and control color throughout the entire design process – from inspiration to final output.

X-Rite Pantone solutions will be shown at the booths of the following exhibitors: Alwan (#154), Beta Industries (#4435), Canon (#400), Color HQ (646), Digital Information (#448), EFI (#2000), Fuji (#627), Heidelberg (#1214), Hewlett Packard (#1227), Komori (#1255), Presstek (#3417) and PrintFlow (#461).
