Press release from the issuing company

Visitors to booth 229 can see how ES 3 and VIRTUAL LIBRARY turn static, print-ready PDF files into interactive digital e-books for a dynamic 'reader experience' on iPad and web sites.

At booth 229 during Graph Expo 2012, October 7-10 at McCormick Place in Chicago, DALIM SOFTWARE (www.dalim.com), developers of highly efficient, scalable enterprise software solutions for the creation, production and management of cross-media content, highlights the latest release of its popular customer-facing online on-line production management, ES (Enterprise Solution). Visitors can see firsthand ES 3's sophisticated business and production management tools, including a redesigned user interface, making it easier to access, manage, control, organize, and sort projects and files. This latest version of the ES platform also includes a PDF-enriching option, and an API for easy connectivity with third-party applications. Combined with the Virtual Library (DVL) - recipient of a Graph Expo MUST SEE EM - the solution lets users turn print-ready PDFs into interactive, browser-based HTML 5 flipbooks. DALIM SOFTWARE will also show TWIST and DIALOGUE engine enhancements.

ES3: The ultimate user interface
ES 3's next-generation user interface is smart, intuitive, and powerful. Think of it as an online business planner on steroids. New features, providing enhanced flexibility for users, include:

  • Smart Folders, which can be dynamically created, depending on metadata matching certain criteria.
  • A check in/check out tool that takes the worry out of managing multiple versions.
  • Project Data Management creates subdirectories that organize project content-such as text and pictures-into meaningful, descriptive folders.
  • With its Application Programming Interface (API), ES 3 seamlessly integrates with any existing third-party MIS, ERP or DAM system.

Sometimes documents need to be shared with people who are not necessarily part of the supply chain. With the 'Share' feature, the operator simply clicks a button, and ES generates a URL and email message allowing the file to be sent to whomever the person selects. Recipients simply download the file through that link.

ES and DVL combination receives a Graph Expo Must See Em
Part of ES, DVL is a page-turning application providing real-time access to a realistic publication 'look and feel', even simulating paper grades, for softproofing review and approval before a job is printed. The Enrichment option of ES lets brands and publishing customers turn otherwise static, print-ready PDF files into interactive digital magazines, newspapers, corporate publications, brochures and catalogues-even adding movies and slide shows-for the iPad. Thus, the content provider has the tools to offer a much more dynamic 'reader experience' than just the pure conversion of a magazine ported to an iPad.

Along with ES 'Share', DVL files can be shared with others-a product combination that has received a Graph Expo Must See Em. Partners can email them for download, but they can also easily publish HTML5 code to embed the DVL file on any website. Thus, printers have a very powerful tool to produce interactive online catalogs or magazines within minutes. While some prepress houses already provide this service, they are either Flash based with known compatibility issues, or the programming is very time consuming and costly.

"With ES and DVL, anyone - for example, printers, publishers or catalogue producers - can embed dynamic page-turning content on any website, just as is done with YouTube videos, easily viewed by anyone," explains Graham Blanks, Director, Business Operations North America, DALIM SOFTWARE. "For example, a prepress house producing printed catalogues can help a retailer display a digital version online, even before printing. Combine this with ES enriching technology, and you can produce interactive online catalogues or magazines within minutes, that can be dynamically updated if an item is sold out. While some prepress houses already provide this service, many are Flash based, with its compatibility issues. Or, other systems require very time consuming and costly programming. ES and DVL make it a very simple process."

Updates to TWIST and DIALOGUE Engine
There are also exciting updates to the latest releases of TWIST and DIALOGUE Engine.

TWIST is as much as four times faster, bringing higher levels of workflow productivity. A new feature allows users to automatically compare versions of a document with the control to stop the workflow process if a problem or difference is found. Version 6.4 also features a new normalization method to optimize PDF files, originally intended for print, for use on mobile devices, eliminating artifacts and small white lines.

DIALOGUE Engine supports the Just Normlicht viewing booth, for better control when soft proofing during a press check. When the user opens a file in DIALOGUE Engine, the system will control the brightness of the viewing cabinet and match the image on the monitor with the one on the cabinet.

"At Graph Expo, DALIM SOFTWARE focuses on two important graphic production elements," offers Dr. Carol Werlé, DALIM SOFTWARE CEO. "We have introduced business processes to complement the technical production process. Approval, reviews, partner collaboration, and other relationships can help automatically drive production. Also, we are offering easy ways to complement print expertise with web-based communication tools, like DVL, helping to evolve our customers' businesses."
