Pressgrannar Chooses DCOS for Press Upgrade

Press release from the issuing company

Pressgrannar AB has three production facilities in Sweden, the print house in Linköping with a brand new manroland Regioman press that recently came in production, one print house in Uppsala and since a few years the print house in Visby on the island Gotland. The group produces a dozen newspapers and in addition other newspapers, magazines and direct mail.

Pressgrannar continues its expansion with yet another investment, this time at the Visby facility. Peter Dahlén, head of the investment says: "During the press extension we will nearly double our 4-color capacity in the press. Thanks to automation solutions from DCOS we can maintain high efficiency and keep a low manning on the press".

This investment will not only extend the existing drive system but also includes a complete new control system platform and an upgrade of the safety system to meet current safety standards. "Throughout the procurement process Pressgrannar has been very clear in its focus on efficiency and quality in its productions and therefore the order also includes our DRCS closed loop register system  for color register and cut-off for all webs", adds Mattias Andersson, managing director of DCOS.

The fact that the plant is on an island 3 hours by ferryboat to the mainland puts the requirements on reliability and stability of the systems as a top priority. "The service and support that DCOS offers became an important reason for the choice of supplier", underlines Peter Dahlén.

The installation start by fall this year with the upgrade phases of the control system and the DRCS system for the existing pressline. The project will be finalized in February next year with the new printing units also installed. The press will be in daily production throughout the upgrade project.
