manroland delivers new Messenger to Newspaper Community

Press release from the issuing company

(September 04, 2008) The world's second largest printing systems manufacturer and the global market leader in web offset printing has made another significant change as part of its corporate rebranding.  manroland has repackaged its communication vehicle to the newspaper industry with the debut of the strikingly stylish "manroland Messenger".

The colorful, tabloid-sized redesign replaces the former "MAN Roland Compact".  The new Messenger will print twice a year and focus on the latest trends in the newspaper market.  Each issue will appear in a different format and be printed by different newspaper companies.  The first issue is 32 pages and was printed on a manroland REGIOMAN press by the Dutch newspaper printing company BDU. Special features in this issue include FM screening, halfcover, stitching and scented ink.

The newspaper is divided into seven different sections including Applications, Press Concepts, Automation, PRINTVALUE, Spotlight, Markets and Background.

For example, nine in-depth stories with photos and graphics are devoted to the 8-page Applications section.  These stories detail everything from new and improved changes to value-added newspaper printing concepts and how some publishers are turning children into regular readers.

Another 7 pages tells a handful of stories in the Automation section.  This includes detailed information and graphics about customized solutions for future-oriented newspaper printers, and systems for industrial newspaper production in the 21st century.  There is also a story about the use of a robot to write the Luther Bible "by hand" for the first time since the 16th century.

The Messenger also offers a Design special insert in its debut publication.  The 20-page section, titled "The Secret of a successful relaunch is...Teamwork", includes nine stories that deal with a number of issues.  Some of the features cover consultants, transparent paper, scented paper, and creative folding used to attract attention to new advertising concepts.

The next issue will be published after Graph Expo.  To obtain a copy of the manroland Messenger, send your request via email to: [email protected].
