IDEAlliance Awards G7 Certification to Alwan DynamicPrinterCalibration

Press release from the issuing company

IDEAlliance has awarded Alwan Color Expertise, a worldwide leader in color management and standardization software, G7 System Certification for its technology, Alwan PRINT Standardizer, which gives printers the ability to print to ISO standard 12647 while calibrating their press to the IDEAlliance G7 standard.

Since the launch of G7 grayscale calibration in 2005, printers worldwide have chosen to conform to either ISO 12647 or IDEAlliance's G7 grayscale calibration methodology. Having achieved G7 System Certification, Alwan DynamicPrinterCalibration affords printers the ability to conform to ISO 12647 while also benefiting from adopting the G7 calibration methodology, recognizing neutral grays and shared appearance across multiple processes.

Elie Khoury, founder and president of Alwan Color Expertise expressed excitement about this new development, "Since 1997, Alwan has been helping printers work to standards.

Unfortunately, in many situations, printing to ISO standards did not guarantee proof to press, press to press, or substrate to substrate match. We knew that G7 calibration could help improve near neutral color reproduction and the appearance of prints across processes, but the G7 method was not recognized enough in some parts of the world, and required that printers abandon efforts to conform to ISO 12647. Today, these two obstacles are overcome, thanks to the international recognition that G7 calibration has since gained and to the Alwan PRINT Standardizer. Printers can now enjoy G7 calibration benefits while conforming to ISO 12647."

Joe Fazzi, Vice President of Media Production Technologies with IDEAlliance concludes, "We are gratified to see a market leader in ISO 12647 standardization like Alwan Color Expertise recognize the benefits of G7. We now look forward to an even wider adoption of printing standards by printers who no longer have to choose between two standards, but can benefit from both."
