Donation of 'SpotOn! Flexo' Allows Cal Poly to Enhance Flexographic Education

Press release from the issuing company

All Printing Resources (APR) and SpotOn! Press recently donated software to Cal Poly’s Graphic Communication Department that will enhance its flexography curriculum and industry workshops.

The SpotOn! Flexo software is being used to educate students and industry workshop participants about spot color management and process control. Harvey Levenson, head of Cal Poly’s Graphic Communication Department, said he is committed to supporting the flexographic industry by educating students and training industry professionals with the best applications to keep the industry competitive and vibrant. “We are honored to be partnering with All Printing Resources in this endeavor,” he said.

Cal Poly Professor Malcolm Keif called SpotOn! Flexo the cleanest software application he has seen “for easily determining if changing anilox rolls will result in a spectral color match.  The software is vital in determining if ink blending is done correctly and if press adjustments alone can result in color matches. SpotOn! Flexo also has process control capabilities. “We are very excited about using this tool at Cal Poly,” Keif said.

Richard Black, director of digital solutions with APR, said, “We are delighted to partner with Cal Poly in giving their students and industry participants the best solutions available for the packaging industry.”
