drupa Report No. 3 Wins BCP Silver Award

Press release from the issuing company

The multi-award winning drupa report won the silver prize in the category “Print & Innovation” at the “Best Of Corporate Publishing” (BCP) competition for the second time in a row. The drupa report has therefore once again been honored as an excellent example of print finishing, material mix and post-press processing. The Forum’s Corporate Publishing prize is awarded every year by a jury of experts. Over 700 submitted publications in 36 categories impressed the jury with many new ideas and innovation potential. Dr. Philipp Rösler, German Federal Minister of Economics, is the patron of the BCP 2012.

“The drupa report is the best proof that print still has innovation and creativity, even in the digital age,” stated Manuel Mataré, Director of drupa. “With the focus on the topic of “paper”, we also wanted to underline that this resource still plays a central and inspiring role in the competition of the media.”

With a run of 13,000 copies, the drupa report is geared towards worldwide decision makers, multipliers, exhibitors and trade journalists in the industry. The focal topic of the award-winning drupa report no. 3 was paper – both with regards to content and production. Seven different types of paper from Papier Union were used. The format also changed several times throughout the 62 pages: from DIN A4 to fold-out page and to a double gate fold in the center of the magazine. Thus, paper in all its facets, haptics and diverse possible usages in print communication shows its effect impressively. High-quality finishes, such as laser punching on the title page, hot foil laminations and scented print, make the drupa report a particularly valuable piece of print. Holger Giffhorn/Giffhorn Design (Wuppertal) was responsible for the design of the drupa report which was printed at Druckstudio (Düsseldorf).

Since the first drupa in 1951, the drupa report (back then under the name “DRUPA-Presse”) has published news about the world's leading international trade fair for the printing industry. Its success story of more than sixty years is therefore closely linked with the developments and technical possibilities of the print sector – it is always state-of-the-art. For this reason, the drupa report won many other awards in addition to the BCP Silver Award in 2011 and 2012:

drupa reports No. 3 and 4 (drupa 2008) won the red dot award 2008 for their excellent design, drupa report No. 4 (drupa 2008) won a gold medal at the "Sappi European Printers of the Year Award 2008” in the magazine category, drupa report No. 3 (drupa 2012) received the “icma Award of Excellence” while drupa reports No. 3 und 4 (drupa 2008) earned a nomination for the Design Award Germany 2010. The next drupa report will be published in autumn 2013. The next staging of drupa will take place from June 2 - 15, 2016.
