The new press was installed in June 2003. “We needed a new press that brought us more flexibility, more efficiency, and faster turnaround to move into new markets,” says Wally Hofland, president of Torham Packaging. “We’ve had a good long-term relationship with KBA and we’ve been a long-standing supporter of their presses. We’ve owned two KBA six-color presses and still operate one of those. Now our new Rapida 105 seven-color press with UV coating capability gives us even higher quality, one-pass productivity and even more throughput. Our makeready time has been reduced by 50%. The UV capabilities withi nterstation drying allows us to turn our jobs around faster and it allows us to go into new markets using a range of substrates from paper to boxboard.
