Flexo Printer Provides Greater Range Of Service With Fleet Of New Heidelberg Equipment

Press release from the issuing company

KENNESAW, Ga. – February 24, 2004 – Adco Industries, a well established manufacturer of flexographic printing products and other innovations designed for retail stores, recently installed a fleet of new Heidelberg equipment, including a Speedmaster 52 five-color offset press, so that it can provide a greater range of service to its customers. Based in Garland, Texas, Adco completed this month the installation of more than 15 pieces of Heidelberg prepress, press and postpress equipment as part of a new marketing campaign called Trigger Impulse Purchasing, which is designed to build the company’s brand name and extend its presence in the point-of-purchase specialty niche. Adco, the nation’s largest producer of point-of-purchase flags, uses its new Heidelberg equipment to produce a wide array of related retail promotional materials, including shelf tags, danglers, talkers and floor graphics. It counts major mass merchandisers, grocery stores and clothing label manufacturers among its largest customers. “In the retail world, it is critical that promotional materials are eye-catching, meet shoppers’ needs and stimulate purchases,” said Mike Davis, director of marketing for Adco Industries. “With our new Heidelberg equipment, we are now a one-stop shop so we can do it all. If it’s not natural or manmade, it’s printed. And chances are we can print it. That’s what we aim to convey to existing accounts and to convince of new ones.” The Speedmaster 52 press is designed to improve speed, efficiency and productivity. It features an optimized feeder that ensures precise, reliable sheet transport even at high production speeds and highly automated printing units. The Speedmaster SM 52 is the only press in its format class equipped with a fully automatic sheet-reversing device, which delivers increased productivity for straight printing and perfecting. Adco’s new Speedmaster is a five-color press with a coating system and high-pile delivery that also features remote service capabilities. In addition to the new Speedmaster 52 press, Adco purchased and installed the following Heidelberg solutions: - Prinance management information system for estimating, quoting and cost analysis - 20-inch Stahlfolder - Polar 66 paper cutter - Polar 115 cutter with an extended two-meter back table - Polar R-6 jogger - Polar scale weight counting system - Polar stacklift - Polar pile turner - Prosetter 52 semi-automatic direct-to-plate system with in-line punching - MetaDimension software package to run the Prosetter - Preflow 3, which includes SuperTrap, Super Color Pitstop Server and Pitstop Professional pre-flight station - Signastation imposition station - Heidelberg color management package with Printopen software With the new equipment, Adco is able to provide higher quality and a greater range of service, including offset and silk screen printing in addition to its flagship flexo printing business. Davis said he expects these new service offerings to help increase efficiencies during makeready and drive revenue growth between 30% and 40% in 2004. Adco recorded sales of $20 million in 2003. “The new press allows us to take on additional capacity and add more shifts if the need arises,” Davis said. ”While we can definitely handle a lot more, it is even more important that the Heidelberg equipment allows us to produce the high quality work that our customers expect from us. We may not be the cheapest printer, but we are the best printer.”
