Komori’s H-UV Technology Stands Out at drupa

Press release from the issuing company

Komori’s award winning H-UV innovative curing and drying system, the backbone of Komori’s OffsetOnDemand message, drew huge interest from visitors at drupa 2012. Three of Komori’s six offset machines on the drupa stand were equipped with the system—the Lithrone S40 perfector, the new Lithrone GLX carton press and the Lithrone S29. The Komori H-UV System was developed by Komori as one of its many products designed to improve overall pressroom efficiency. With just one lamp mounted in the delivery, the system offers high print quality and reliability, as well as excellent economics and eco-friendly performance.

“H-UV comes with a host of advantages,” says Doug Schardt, product manager for Komori America. “It uses 75% less power than conventional UV, is ozone free and delivers a bindery ready sheet, to name a few. Additionally, as with all Komori solutions, the print quality is outstanding.”

With H-UV, sheets can go from the press directly to bindery, significantly improving efficiency and job turnaround times. The system also operates in the “non-ozone” wavelength of the UV spectrum, making it an eco-friendly alternative and eliminating the need for venting. Using only one bulb in the delivery of the press to cure the sheet also significantly reduces cost over conventional UV.

With nearly 200 H-UV systems installed worldwide, Kosh Miyao, President and COO of Komori America expects to see adoption of this revolutionary technology expand rapidly, based on the interest shown at drupa 2012. “We had conversations with many US printers about H-UV and its advantages over conventional UV. We look forward to a busy summer following up on all our drupa activity,” said Miyao.
