GGM Saves 80% in Labor and 20% in Consumables with Metrix

Press release from the issuing company

Metrix Software, developer of Metrix, the intelligent, automated job planning and imposition system, announced today that Belgian printer Grafische Groep Matthys had measured their labor savings at 80% and their consumables savings at 20% since they had integrated Metrix into their workflow.

Grafische Groep Matthys is a €7 million per-year company with a custom-developed web portal that serves businesses in Belgium, the Netherlands and Germany. According to the firm's owners, Metrix made it possible to extend the company's offerings to this lucrative multi-country B2B market.

Prior to Metrix, planning and imposition for weekly print deliveries was done entirely manually using Adobe InDesign. Preparing plate-ready data was costing a hefty 36 labor hours per week. Today, the web-ordered gang-run batches take, on average, 6 hours per week to fully plan and impose.

Filip Matthys, Prepress Manager at GGM, stated: "Starting from the very first day of putting Metrix into production, we reduced labor time by 80% and eliminated errors on layout - completely."

At first GGM used Metrix for only the gang-run work, but soon discovered that folded and bound work was faster and easier using Metrix as well. Even the most complex book jobs are done in less than 5 minutes in Metrix, whereas their prepress system required up to 30 minutes.

GGM has also reaped Metrix rewards on their finishing operations. "Metrix means more efficient cutting, saving us more time and money on the back end," reported Matthys.

The company's web portal, www.postfly.be, continues to deliver a steep demand for brochures, point of purchase displays, business cards and posters for businesses throughout Belgium, the Netherlands, and Germany. "We couldn't be happier with Metrix," stated Matthys. "It removed our biggest bottleneck and continues to keep us ahead of the curve."
