Courier Invests in a Diamant MC Digital from Muller Martini

Press release from the issuing company

For the past three years, Courier Corporation has been producing digitally printed softcover books at its plant in North Chelmsford, Massachusetts. At drupa, they decided in favor of a new Diamant MC Digital bookline from Muller Martini and can now produce hardcover books in short print runs.

“Our digital printing business continues to grow,” says Joseph L. Brennan, Vice President of Engineering at Courier Corporation. “The new Diamant MC Digital will enable us to offer our customers digitally printed hardcover books.”

In North Chelmsford, Courier prints only digital products under the brand name Courier Digital Solutions (CDS) which predominately manufactures textbooks for schools and universities, as well as specialty trade books. In addition to the Diamant MC Digital, CDS also utilizes Muller’s SigmaBinder/Tower/Trimmer, an Acoro A7 perfect binder and three SigmaFolder/Collators with SigmaControl.

Founded in 1824, Courier Corporation has had a Diamant bookline in operation for six years at a different site and had purchased a second machine a month ago making this Diamant their third. “Courier and Muller Martini not only have a strong long-term partnership; we also have the same goals when it comes to production processes,” says Brennan, explaining the reasons behind this most recent investment. “In addition, the Diamant enables us to offer our customers high-quality hardcover books equivalent in every way to books produced in our offset plants.”
