Presstek / Highcon Demo an All Digital Packaging Solution

Press release from the issuing company

Presstek, Inc., a leading supplier of digital offset printing solutions to the printing and communications industries, reported that during drupa 2012, held at Messe Dusseldorf, Presstek partnered with digital finishing company Highcon to demonstrate the value of high quality short run offset printing combined with digital cutting and creasing for the folding carton market. Sheets printed on a Presstek DI digital offset press were converted using the Highcon Euclid and made available to visitors during the show.

“We were delighted to be partnering with Highcon at drupa 2012,” said Joe Demharter, Presstek’s Vice President of Sales & Marketing. “Due to the proliferation of SKUs, the need to make frequent content changes on packaging, and the desire of brand owners for faster time to market, run lengths continue to decline in the folding carton market. The combination of the Presstek 75DI digital offset press and the Highcon Euclid is an ideal solution that removes many of the pain points and bottlenecks we see today in the folding carton supply chain enabling converters to meet today’s market requirements.”

The 75DI with successful installations on three continents in a variety of shops is now drawing the interest of the packaging market due to its extreme quality, B2 sheet size and ability to print on substrates up to 31 points (0.8mm) in thickness. The Presstek 75DI goes from digital file to sellable sheet in six minutes and prints at 16,000 impressions per hour. It is the most economical press on the market today for color jobs with run lengths between 500 and 20,000 impressions, which encompasses a growing percentage of print jobs in the folding carton market. The Presstek 75DI is available in 4- to 10-color configurations.

“The Highcon Euclid provides many advantages to folding carton converters and brand owners alike,” said Chris Baker, Highcon’s VP Sales and Business Development. The Highcon Euclid is a revolutionary machine that uses precision laser optics and polymer technologies to transform cutting and creasing from an analog to a digital workflow, dramatically streamlining the finishing process.
