Benny Landa Pays a Visit to the KBA Stand

Press release from the issuing company

Benny Landa - digital print visionary and marketing guru - is an inspired showmaster when it comes to promoting his ideas and business concepts with maximum impact to a broader public. At Drupa 1995 this groundbreaker and founder of Indigo caused a sensation with the launch of a liquid toner digital printing system. At Drupa 2012 he set tongues wagging with the high-energy launch of a nanographic printing technology developed by Landa Corporation in Israel. A technology which even Landa himself admits is still a long way from market maturity, with a lot of major process-related and commercial issues for potential partners and users still unresolved. Samples printed using nano inks on the revolutionary nanographic digital press exhibited are not being distributed. Nonetheless, Benny Landa's ideas have found a following in the supply and print industry. The promotional show hosted by the man himself was booked out, and by virtue of its sheer professionalism and high entertainment value will probably be remembered as a highlight of this year's fair.

Many people see in Benny Landa, with his technological creativity, entrepreneurial vision and his ability to inspire a broader public, the Steve Jobs of the print media industry. And like Apple's mould-breaking creator, who died too young, Benny Landa is happy to bet his creativity and his money on his latest innovation. It's a good thing, too, that he is investing in print, since it proves that the printed word and its future potential still hold plenty of appeal for clever minds.

KBA management and engineers have known Benny Landa for the past 20 years and respect his many achievements in diverse projects. They were delighted to welcome him to the KBA stand on Saturday and thanked him for taking time out to view the new RotaJET 76.

Looking from afar it strikes me that Benny Landa has not been using social media at drupa, or did not start out to. Classic use of trade show is to demo a new product. Hard to find on Twitter or YouTube ( there is a Benny Landa guitar player with higher profile ) but others have taken video, posted tweets. Is he just lucky? Did he get any advice. Is the social media case over-rated?

Who needs social media when you can get releases such as this one printed. Where is the news in this release? And who is the issuing company - KBA or
Landa?

Interesting. Who went to who's stand? That tells something about the political nature of how the authors of this article want things portrayed.

Even though they describe Landa favourably as a visionary and well respected for past achievements they also seem to give him a back handed compliment for being a showmaster who is providing a memorable and entertaining show of a technology that unfortunately can not seem to print at high quality yet.

On the other hand, the (serious and professional) KBA managers and engineers were very happy that (showmaster) Landa came to their both to view their new RotaJET76 press.

Maybe KBA did not mean to portray the situation this way but that is how it seemed to me when I read it a few times.

Howard, you beat me to the punch!

Here is a press release that has no purpose. What are we supposed to think about the company when we don't even know who issued it? What perceived benefit is there to us, the reader? What action are we supposed to take after reading it?

It is a desperate attempt to ride the coattails of Benny Landa.

Wow, he visited the booth. The first time I spotted Benny Landa during the show, he was literally running with two Landa staffers through the innovation parc! (Probably on his way to a press conference!)
