Agfa Introduces New Violet CtP Systems for Newspapers

Press release from the issuing company

Mortsel, Belgium – Drupa – 18 February 2004 – Agfa announced the addition of two new platesetters for the newspaper and web commercial printing segments. The :Advantage line, which was successfully launched last year with the entry-level DL violet platesetter, will grow with the addition of two new units, the :Advantage CL and :Advantage CLS. The new violet laser-based systems, which will be introduced at Drupa later this year, will feature a multiple cassette option designed to provide high productivity. The CL provides speeds of up to 160 plates per hour, while the CLS can reach speeds of up to 220 plates per hour. By utilising violet diodes, Agfa's systems allow users the lowest cost of ownership and exceed the newspaper industry's requirements for speed, reliability and consistency. The CL series also offers high quality imaging, which makes it the product of choice for the semi-commercial, insert market, as well as the newspaper market. These new systems – combined with the closed-loop quality control system, :Afirma, and :Sublima, Agfa’s cross modulated (XM) screening solution that provides high line screen output (up to 180 lpi) – give customers a combination of exceptional quality, productivity, reliability with low cost of ownership. “When we develop newspaper systems we look at the printer's full production requirements and ensure that we integrate the features users need to keep costs low and still be able to maintain high quality,” said Agfa’s Kurt Smits, director of newspaper business. “The new :Advantage family delivers on that commitment.” The :Advantage Portfolio complements Agfa's existing full range to provide customers with the best system to match their individual needs. The new systems support, both the established Silver plate, LAP-V and also, Agfa's next generation of photopolymer plates. This allows the customer to achieve high quality output from plates that have unrivalled performance on press. Agfa’s solutions and services can be found at Drupa 2004 in Hall 06/D27.
