Press release from the issuing company

Bell and Howell, a leading provider of solutions and services for paper-based and digital messaging, is pleased to announce that Bob Schimek, vice president of postal software engineering, has received the 2012 IDEAlliance Donald A. Mumma Award. This award is the highest award of distinction that IDEAlliance presents in the mail preparation and processing arena. The award recognizes Schimek’s contributions to the industry spanning nearly 20 years, and was presented at the recent 2012 IDEAlliance Print Distribution Conference in San Antonio.

“We are thrilled to see Bob Schimek recognized for his industry contributions,” noted Chris Lien, vice president of software marketing for Bell and Howell. “His leadership within Bell and Howell and the industry are greatly appreciated.”

David Steinhardt, president and CEO of IDEAlliance, added, “We are pleased to recognize Bob Schimek’s many years of contributions to IDEAlliance and the mailing industry supply chain. In particular, his dedication and leadership toward the Mail.dat specification has been especially instrumental in supporting key initiatives such as Intelligent Mail barcodes and electronic postage payment.”

Bob Schimek was also recently appointed by the IDEAlliance association as a representative to the Postmaster General’s Mailers Technical Advisory Committee (MTAC). As an MTAC representative, Schimek will continue to work closely with the mailing industry and the United States Postal Service on all matters of address quality, mail preparation and Intelligent Mail barcodes. Schimek is currently the IDEAlliance co-chair for the Mail.dat specification, an industry standard for communicating mail preparation information to the USPS PostalOne! system, as well as the co-chair of the IDEAlliance Postal Operations & Technologies Committee.
