Xerox Validates C.P. Bourg Finishers for Color 800/1000

Press release from the issuing company

C.P. Bourg the world's leading developer and supplier of on-demand document binding and finishing equipment and a leading Xerox Corporation Business Partner, today announced that two of its advanced, JDF-enabled "E-series" document finishing products have been validated by Xerox for use in-line with Xerox Color 800/1000 Presses.

Xerox validation of these Bourg "E-series" products delivers on the promise of touchless print finishing, to provide the user of any Xerox Color 800/1000 Press with exceptional finishing efficiency, flexibility and productivity.

Fast and Flexible Booklet-Making
C.P. Bourg products validated for use with Xerox Color 800/1000 Presses are the JFD-enabled Bourg BDFEx Document Finisher and Bourg BCMEx Bleed Crease Module, as well as the Bourg SQE Square Edge option.

The Bourg BDFEx Document Finisher gives Xerox Color 800/1000 users automatic, on-demand stitch-fold-trim finishing of booklets and other documents at rates up to 4,200 sets per hour from printed sheets in sizes from 203.2 x 120 mm (8 x 4.72 in) to 520 x 356 mm (20.47 x 14.01 in).

The optional Bourg BCMEx Bleed Crease Module contributes full-bleed top-and bottom trimming and superior-quality single-pass knife creasing matched to the speeds of Xerox Color 800/1000 Presses, helping to give finished booklets a crisp, three-sided trim. The optional Bourg SQE gives saddle-stitched booklets a squared edge similar in appearance to perfect bound books, to make them lay flat, easy to stack and to allow for printed content on the spine.

Due to its fully integrated and proven automated paper handling, stitching and trimming features, the Bourg BDF series is widely regarded as among the most efficient and reliable document finishers ever built. They are also one of the most successful, with thousands of the compact stitch-fold-trim units installed at user locations around the world.

Automatic In-Line Finishing
"The ability of the Bourg BDFEx to operate seamlessly as part of a JDF-enabled workflow and produce the highest quality print finishing is testimony to overall Bourg BDF product design and to C.P. Bourg dedication to quality, innovation and efficiency. These traits have made Bourg BDF Document Finishers popular products with print finishing professionals for a broad range of applications in diverse markets," said James Tressler, Director of Marketing and Branch Operations, C.P. Bourg, Inc.

"Now, Xerox validation of these proven and highly productive Bourg 'E-series' finishers gives Xerox Color 800/1000 users access to all the benefits of fully automatic, touchless production as part of the new Xerox IntegratedPLUS Finishing Solution for Booklets," says Mr. Tressler.

As an integral part of the Xerox IntegratedPLUS workflow, the Bourg document finishers are guided by job tickets written in Job Definition Format (JDF), the XML-based file format standard for information exchange in the graphic arts. The JDF job tickets are used to set up all finishing function changeovers automatically for each job, including bleed and trim dimensions, folding crease placement, stitch position, paper dimensions and paper weight.

"In this way, the Bourg BDFEx and BCMEx finishers operate seamlessly in-line with the Color 800/1000 Press as a tightly integrated unit, synchronizing production instructions, preventing production of 'impossible jobs' and enabling automatic document size changeovers to accommodate with peak efficiency any type of job the production system is capable of handling," Mr. Tressler explained

Here at drupa 2012, the Bourg BCMEx Bleed Crease Module and Bourg BDFEx Document Finisher are being shown operating with a Xerox Color 800/1000 Press on the Xerox stand at Hall 8b.

The C.P. Bourg JDF-enabled E-series finishers validated for use with Xerox Color 800/1000 Presses are available from Xerox Corporation sales offices worldwide.
