manroland Sheetfed's PRINTVALUE Program

Press release from the issuing company

Visitors to manroland sheetfed’s stand at drupa 2012 will be able to speak to the company’s experts about how the value added services of the PRINTVALUE program can enhance their businesses through printservices, printcom, printnetwork and printadvice.

printservices covers all possible technical support for total efficiency during the entire life cycle of a printing system. It includes process analysis, training, project management, maintenance and service contracts, upgrades on existing equipment, remote service and spare and wear parts.

manroland is offering a new online store that offers customers individualized wear and spare parts management with shopping lists, convenient ordering procedures and fast deliveries. The store is directly linked to the console of the press and will only request the relevant parts for the specific press to which it is linked.

The pro-active printservices continuously adds new service packages such as the popular Proserv maintenance programs from basic to supreme. Another is the packages of parts, such as standard gripper sets for the various presses to ensure customers can profit 24/7 from their investment.

The new online Tele Support Centre (TSC) is available to cover all service calls around the world night and day.

printcom is a full range of factory certified consumables that increase the efficiency of the printing process as well as production reliability. It will focus during drupa 2012 on offering solutions to the five main concerns of today’s printers.

- Cost-conscious printing: by reducing the consumption of alcohol and washing agents.
- Printing to food conformity: helping printers meet all the requirements.
- Cold foil finishing for all: offering all materials and know-how.
- Commercial? Packaging? Labelling? UV? Which is the ideal blanket for each application?
- Varnishing or finishing: showing all the possibilities.

With its extensive experience and specialist knowledge, manroland sheetfed is able to optimize both processes and the interaction between the press and the materials used. Its customers save time and money and conform to environmental restrictions. There is great potential for customers to save money by taking advantage of this know-how and experience.

printnetwork provides all the networking and computer integrated manufacturing solutions from manroland sheetfed. With more than 2000 manroland networks in operation around the world, and working with around 20 MIS providers, manroland offers the most practical and reliable networking tools available. At drupa 2012, new press management products are available to guarantee the most efficient use of ROLAND printing presses, targeting more economic production, fast and efficient job preparation, precise  pre-setting of  the printing  press, production acquisition and quality data.

The new product is called ‘IntegrationPilot 2.0’ and is available in three different levels of integration from the ‘smart’ local version to the networked ‘plus’ version including JMF instant production information and reporting.

They all include the CIP3 workflow for press ink pre-setting at different levels of automation. Customers will benefit from the time savings it generates, optimize job sequence, profit from easy job creation or automatic workflows for job creation. A production overview with a clear display of all relevant production job data and a central view of the joblist will make production transparent and enable flexibility in creating and editing jobs as several functions support customer specific workflows. Management will love the paperless control of productive and unproductive periods, precise and complete process acquisition of operative time, auxiliary process time and down time. Other advantages include precise and complete material acquisition of good sheets, waste paper and fully automatic status messages in JMF format.

Another option is the ProcessMonitor which offers a clear and well-arranged display of printing quality according to ISO or self-defined standards as each sheet is measured and analysed in real time. A wide range of information about density, colorimetry, grey balance, trapping, dot gain is available. It will also show whether the substrate is within the tolerance. Analysis of the print run stability regarding density, dot gain, color values complete the protocol printout for every job.

printadvice is the advisory service you can expect from a partner with more than 160 years of industry experience. At drupa 2012, manroland sheetfed unveils its ‘TOP Performance Consultancy’ program that was recently created in response to the demands of industrial printers.

“We will not buy presses in the future, we are going to buy performance,” a major customer once said. That is exactly what the TOP programme is about - calculate the performance ratio (P) of a company based on its technology (T), its organisation (O) and its people (P).

The true picture is revealed when good average results in each area are combined and lead to disastrous performances: a 85%(=T) x a 80% (=O) x a 70% (=P) will only reach a 48% performance!

This specialist programme can be tailor-made to a company’s individual needs and includes the following:

- topAnalysis: productivity reports with original data out of the press
- topPerformanceCheck: analysis in the areas of technology, organisation and people with a comprehensive survey and proposals for increasing productivity
- topProduction: optimisation of press settings and processes around the press by an experienced print inspector
- topCalibration: Sustainable make ready time and waste reduction through the manroland prepress and press calibration method
- topPrepress: optimal adjustment of prepress technology and increasing of process reliability of prepress and press
- topProcess: lean production with instruments for the optimisation of the whole print shop workflow
- topCompetence: qualification level evaluation using manroland’s patented method
- topLeadership: managing director/production manager workshop for the successful use of TOP products as a management tool

After only one year of operating this unique programme, manroland sheetfed already has around 100 current TOP projects worldwide. The customer’s feedback is fantastic and shows that small improvements in each area can lead to great increase in performance (P): a 95% T (or 10% increase in Technology, precondition to increase output and reduce costs) x a 95% O (or 15% better Organisation, which has a strong impact on the overall efficiency) x 90% P (or 20% increase in People, they make the difference), leads to an excellent 81% P performance ratio.
