SAN JOSE, Calif.--Feb. 18, 2004-- Adobe Systems Incorporated today announced availability of Adobe PDF JobReady(TM) 1.6, the latest release of technology previously branded Adobe PDF Transit. Available as a Software Development Kit (SDK), Adobe PDF JobReady lets OEMs and systems integrators build desktop solutions that allow users to easily and reliably create print-ready Adobe Portable Document Format (PDF) files, and then send them directly to their favorite print shop via the Internet. Essential features in Adobe PDF JobReady 1.6 include: seamless one-click "print-ready" Adobe PDF creation from any authoring application based on pre-configured settings from the print provider, the ability to proof print jobs from the desktop, and secure 40-bit encryption file delivery. Adobe PDF JobReady 1.6 also features client-side Job Definition Format (JDF) creation to drive process automation and ensure reliable communication between creative professionals and print providers. Adobe also announced an expanded partnership with Datalogics, a leading provider of publishing solutions, to deliver Adobe PDF JobReady licensing, maintenance, and customer support for systems integrators and print service bureaus worldwide. "We've rebranded Adobe PDF JobReady to make clear its increasingly important role in professional print workflows," said James Alexander, director of product management, Publishing Technology and Services at Adobe. "Through technologies such as Adobe PDF JobReady and partners like Datalogics, Adobe PDF has established itself as the premier format for delivering print jobs, securely and with the highest possible quality." "Print providers are aware of the problems associated with sending, receiving, and processing jobs," said James McNeill, president of Datalogics. "These concerns are eliminated with Adobe PDF JobReady. The demand for this technology represents a tremendous market opportunity for Datalogics and the print industry because companies can expand solutions and services to include reliable Adobe PDF file creation and delivery from the customer's desktop."
