Goss Community extension at Ming Pao, Hong Kong

Press release from the issuing company

February 17th 2004 - Goss International has taken an order from the Ming Pao Enterprise Corporation Ltd. for a Goss Community tower extension to its existing Goss Community press line at its Hong Kong facility. Mr. Francis Tiong, Executive Director at Ming Pao Enterprise Corporation Ltd (Hong Kong) said of the order, "We already have three lines of the Goss Community press at our facility and are extremely happy with both the reliability of the press and the consistently high quality of the print that we can produce." Ming Pao has had a long-term relationship with Goss branded presses since it purchased its first Goss Community press in 1991 and was the first choice again when it opened its overseas office in Ontario, Canada in the summer of 1993. Mr. Tiong continued, "When we decided to upgrade our press the decision was very easy - our production crew has worked with the Goss Community for 12 years and has every confidence in its abilities." The order at Ming Pao consists of two four-high towers and will increase both the pagination and the color flexibility for newspaper advertising. Mr. Tiong explains, "At the present time the advertising market in Hong Kong is extremely competitive and we are under pressure to print the newspaper in many sections. The additional pagination that we will gain from adding the two new Goss Community towers will enable us to have at least an extra page for advertising in each section we currently produce." The publisher prints the Ming Pao Daily News, which has a weekday circulation of 140,000 copies and a weekend circulation of 90,000 copies. It also contract prints the Financial Times (Hong Kong edition), which has a circulation of around 10,000 copies. Rick Kordas, Regional Manager of Goss Asia Pacific comments, "We are delighted that Ming Pao has chosen to partner with Goss for this important extension project at its Hong Kong facility. We have a strong relationship with the company based on partnership and are pleased to have taken three orders from them in less than a year. These include a two-high Goss Community addition for Ming Pao's Vancouver facility and eleven Goss Community units for its Toronto facility in Canada." The first issue of the Ming Pao Daily News was published in 1959 in Hong Kong and remains one of the highest circulation daily newspapers in Hong Kong. Expanding into the North American market in 1993, today Ming Pao Enterprise Corporation Ltd. owns four daily newspapers, five magazines, 12 internet portals and a travel service company. "During the last 11 years we have repeatedly won awards from the Hong Kong Newspaper Association for the 'Best News in Hong Kong'," concludes Mr. Tiong. "This recognizes our achievements in both quality and content. The new tower additions will enable us to maintain our lead in this very competitive market."
