manroland's COLORMAN e:line – The New Futureproof Star

Press release from the issuing company

“The COLORMAN e:line is a new synonym for economical efficiency in newspaper production. This includes larger newspaper houses in all parts of the world,” describes Peter Kuisle, Executive Vice President Sales, Service and Marketing at manroland web systems.

The Allgäuer Zeitungsverlag in Kempten, Germany, is the first newspaper house to invest in this new concept. Markus Brehm, Managing Director, explains the decision: “The COLORMAN e:line will set standards. In future we will be printing on one press instead of two.”

Exciting outfit
The COLORMAN e:line’s futuristic, eye-catching outfit raises the emotions of the potential owners and the operators of the press as well as of the readers and advertisers. They all like the high printing quality and the reliability of the performance as well as the creative potential they gain with this new production system. Technicians and printers are even more impressed by well engineered devices for a fast and flawless make-ready, startup and production changeover, as well as of the automation features of the autoprint range. And they all love the unique One Touch operating system.

Excellent printing quality
The printing units come in H-unit blanket-to-blanket design which provides short spacing between the printing couples. Thus only one fanout control device per tower is necessary instead of up to three with other series in the market, and its new design is made to save energy. A newly dimensioned inking unit, a narrow lock-up gap, and a new cylinder configuration help maintain quality and save paper. In addition, a formatsize ink forme roller reliably prevents ghosting. The operator does not need to look after the roller lock-up: the IROLOC dynamic roller lock-up can take on this task on request.

Energy saving, ergonomic and efficient
The COLORMAN e:line is a fine blend of industry proven mechatronic developments and latest state-of-the-art automation technology and aims last not least at ergonomy. The design includes simple external access to the roller wash-up device as well as practical handling aids for the installing and removing of the rollers, so work in the tunnel is reduced to maintenance. The water-cooled motors on each double printing couple do not require air filter replacement and result in energy savings of eight percent. Bearer ring-free construction, turbo cleaning with highly extended maintenance intervals, and a longer roller cover service life, high-precision slitters for minimum paper dust, and wear-resistant infeed devices reduce the cost of ownership.

Easy to operate and economic
The printer can supply the plates for the APL system during print runs in a sound protected area. A plate lift carries the plates to the working position of the plating robots. The operator handles all plates from control level. He can check all plates at a glance. APL logistics configurations make work even more comfortable and efficient.

Investment security: futureproof
Automation packages, the Speed package and Commercial package for the production of magazine-type products are available. The automation and the commercial package can be defined during the project and retrofitted at a later date if necessary. With printnetwork, manroland is the only system manufacturer to provide all systems from prepress and printing to reporting and post processing, and even shop-floor data collection.
