"Discover HEI" at drupa

Press release from the issuing company

Heidelberger Druckmaschinen AG (Heidelberg) is showcasing around 60 innovations under the banner "Discover HEI" in an area covering some 6,300 m² in Hall 1 at drupa. This makes it the biggest exhibitor at the trade show, which is held every four years and is taking place from May 3 to 16 in Düsseldorf. Heidelberg is also the only manufacturer to be showcasing integrated solutions for commercial and packaging printing that are geared to the very latest market requirements.

The new portfolio it is presenting at the trade show reflects recent market developments in the industry. As a result, customers can embrace existing market trends and turn them into successful and profitable business models. The trade show presentation will focus on the latest market trends, such as lean production, green printing, web-to-print, short-run printing, differentiation through coatings and special effects, the future of packaging printing, and gaining an edge through the latest know-how.

"We have systematically focused our research and development activities on current market trends and maximum customer benefits," said Heidelberg CEO Bernhard Schreier. "We are combining state-of-the-art offset presses with digital printing technologies so as to be able to offer print shops solutions that bring economic benefits. What's more, our extended service portfolio offers added value across the board. Customer response to the numerous innovations at the show is very promising so far. Overall, we are expecting the most important event in the print media industry to stimulate positive energy for us. We are also anticipating, that the chances and perspectives demonstrated will be leading to short-term investments in this multi-billion Euro market," he added.

Carbon offsetting applied to entire drupa presentation
Heidelberg is also staging its entire drupa presentation on a carbon-neutral and sustainable basis. Attention was focused on environmentally friendly processes, recyclable materials, and reusable modules as early as the planning and tendering phase and this was reflected in aspects such as the tendering documentation. The CO2 emissions for all processes and materials related to the trade show are being offset. These range from project management, logistics operations - including assembly and dismantling - and the operation of machinery at the show, to travel to and from the event, and accommodation for booth personnel. Additional parameters involved in the CO2 calculations for the booth include consumables such as paper and inks and power supplies for the technology and equipment used at the show.

Heidelberg showcases future print applications in the Innovation Gallery
At drupa 2012, Heidelberg will be showcasing visionary print applications in its Innovation Gallery in Hall 1 and will thus highlight the areas where it is planning to play an active role in shaping the future of print. Visitors will be able to discover four different areas of application. In the areas of surface finishing and printed electronics, they will see market-ready products and demonstrations of what is already possible. As for the other two areas of application - printing on 3D objects and digital imaging - pioneering technologies for the future will be on display.
