Heidelberg to Reinforce Packaging Portfolio at drupa 2012

Press release from the issuing company

Of the many hundreds of exhibitors preparing to take part in drupa 2012, none can match the breadth of Heidelberg’s product line or the diversity of services it offers. As the only manufacturer to offer equipment, workflow, and services covering the entire value-added chain for packaging printing, for example, Heidelberg will reinforce its focus on the packaging market with solutions that will enable packaging printers to offer an expanded range of applications to their customers. Among these are the compact, flexible Diana X 80 folding carton gluer; the versatile Varimatrix 82 CS diecutter; and the short-makeready, high-performance Dymatrix 106 Pro with new chase changer.

“It is exciting to enter another drupa with so many new products to show,” said Chris Raney, Vice President, Packaging. “We are committed to widen our product portfolio for the packaging industry in order to offer packaging printers and converters the very best solutions on the market. Our market share worldwide continues to grow as customers recognize that the Heidelberg’s packaging solutions bring a real competitive advantage in the market.”

Proven Platform, Smaller Format, New Options
For demanding pharmaceutical and standard packaging applications in long runs, the 31.5” Diana X 80 folding carton gluer joins the proven 45” Diana 115 X in delivering the production flexibility essential in the folding carton market.  Thanks to their modular design, both machines can be customized for relevant production requirements, and are extremely versatile, productive, and cost-effective. Add-ons include the Diana Stack Turner, Diana Feeder, andDiana Packer, as well as the new Diana Braille module and the Diana Inspection Control module, which enables the entire area of the blank to be checked and helps maximize production quality. The ejector module subsequently removes faulty cartons in the direction of travel when the machine is operating at speeds up to 200,000 cartons per hour, and ensures continuous error-free production. The new Stack Turner for Diana folding carton gluing machines is geared to high production speeds, processes a wide range of materials, and boosts productivity through precise, continuous pile feeding and turning. Simplified controls and outstanding ease-of-use result in short makeready times.

High-Quality, Short-Run Solution for Deadline-Driven Printers
Also to be unveiled at drupa is the new Varimatrix 82 CS die cutter for cutting and stripping, a quick-makeready system aimed at commercial and packaging printers facing demands for small runs and short delivery times. . Combining significant added value with low investment cost, the new 24”x32” Varimatrix 82 CS is the ideal solution for commercial, digital and packaging printers who must produce ever shorter runs and meet increasingly short delivery times without compromising on quality. The new die cutter, which runs at speeds up to 8,000 sheets per hour, cuts and embosses paper from 80 gsm to 1,400 gsm board, and corrugated up to .08” thick, is a perfect complement to the Speedmaster XL 75, especially for short runs. User-friendly operation ensures short makeready times and fast job changes.

Making the Best Even Better
Last but not least, the proven, high-performance Dymatrix 106 Pro die cutter will show off a new, labor-saving chase changer that speeds up the exchange of cutting dies and reduces the lifting required by the operator. The Dymatrix 106 Pro processes materials from 80 gsm paper to .16” corrugated board at speeds of up to 9,000 sheets per hour with a cutting force of 330 metric tons, perfect for both folding carton manufacture and label production.  An innovative sheet brake cleans itself during production and ensures optimum delivery of multiple-ups, while the optional DySet Pro sheet alignment system prevents feeder jams and increases net output via reliable sheet separation and guidance. Perfectly matched to work with the Speedmaster XL 105 and with Heidelberg Logistics, the Dymatrix 106 Pro also can be seamlessly integrated into the print shop processes via Heidelberg’s Prinect print shop workflow.
