Xitron Announces Navigator DTP Workflow

Xitron, the prepress industry's leading independent developer and integrator of Raster Image Processors, RIP management software and workflow solutions, announced the availability of the Navigator Direct-to-Plate Workflow supporting polyester CtP systems based on EPSON StylusPro printers. Xitron’s inkjet workflow products will be on display at drupa May 3-16 in Hall 15, Stand A23-5.
Navigator DTP Workflow incorporates a wide selection of user-requested features and options, including:
- User controllable job management and ticketing capabilities
- Integrated soft proofing
- Printer device control at operator workstations
- PDF Creation and Preflighting option
- Ink Remapping option
- Imposition Integration option
- Scriptable Hot Folders option
- TIFF Job Grouping option

The Navigator v9 RIP core includes:
- High performance Harlequin RIP core
- Direct polyester plate driver based on Epson Stylus Pro printers
- Ability to accept PDF and PostScript™ files
- High and low resolution halftone screening
- Selectable resolutions of up to 2880 x 1440 dpi
- Line screens up to 133 lpi on polyester plates
- Output device control at operator workstations
Xitron has developed software tools which allow for low cost inkjet imaging on a variety of substrates utilizing Epson inkjet printers. Xitron has completed extensive testing of inkjet imaging on polyester plates including those available from Technova and Baseline/GraphLine.
The Navigator DTP RIP Workflow includes Mac and PC clients and support for one Epson Stylus Pro printer. Additional clients are available as well as the ability to support multiple Epson printers for both plate and proofing from a single workflow.
The Navigator DTP RIP Workflow incorporates sophisticated on-screen soft-proofing tools that allow the user to see the final processed job. The integrated soft-proofing viewer is adjustable from 5%-800% magnification, allowing the user to inspect the file in a processed format. Jobs can be viewed as a composite or any combination of single or multiple separations.
The Navigator DTP RIP Workflow will be available exclusively through Xitron dealers. Xitron offers the workflow as both a software package and an all inclusive workflow bundle, including software, computer platform, onsite installation, training and a one-year Xitron Software Support Agreement in North America. Outside North America, Xitron dealers and distributors offer similarly configured solutions.
