Kern Unveils World’s Fastest Mailing System at drupa 2012

Press release from the issuing company

Mailing expert Kern will unveil the world’s fastest inserter, capable of 33,000 items per hour, at Drupa 2012 (Hall 6, Stand C79).  Leading the way to production mail excellence, the Ai-33 Direct High Speed Intelligent Inserter is capable of achieving input speeds and production efficiencies previously unattainable on inserting systems.

The Ai-33 is part of the Ai Class of High Speed Inserter Systems, the first line of production inserters to possess a new level of embedded intelligence; it incorporates a communication process that can adapt behaviour based on real time system input. Advanced electronics enable intelligence to be transmitted to pro-actively identify areas where efficiencies can be made to maximise output. Intelligent software learns from operator capabilities, making automatic adjustments in timing to maximise throughput and reduce system inefficiencies.

The Ai-33 ensures that production is maximised whilst simultaneously assuring the highest document integrity, and delivering the lowest overall cost per piece in the industry. The output the Ai-33 can achieve is unrivalled by competitor systems, resulting in a lessened need for additional inserter lines, thereby reducing floor space and other necessary resources. The Ai-33Direct integrates Ethercat technology, an intelligent centralized electronic control system which enables the device to combine top performance controls with unique safety features and functions.

Chairman and owner of the Kern group, Uli Kern, said: “Forward -thinking innovation has always been a trademark of Kern’s solutions. The Ai33 is break-through inserter that meets the demands of a fast moving industry and marks a step towards the future for Kern.”

The company’s theme for Drupa 2012 is ‘Kern, your partner in Document Output Management’, which reinforces the emphasis on improving efficiency and reducing costs for clients’ businesses.

At Drupa, Kern will also demonstrate the 3500 Silverline system, which takes the place of the manufacturer’s K3500. The new machine, which can process up to 24,000 items per hour on both DL and C5 envelopes, features the latest servo-motor based technology, ensuring smoother and more reliable production. The inserting module comes with extended envelope specifications, allowing for a wider range of envelope types to be processed while decreasing time between jobs.

Completing the mailing product portfolio, Kern will also exhibit its 2600 inserting system, which like all Kern systems can be can be configured to suit a wide variety of production application requirements. The machine features a colour touch-screen monitor which provides user friendly processing information, and can be programmed to input sheet, envelope and insertion counts, stack heights and user access authorization. The machine’s incorporated "QUICKset" system ensures fast and accurate change overs by auto adjusting the pre-set parameters, reducing the need for operator intervention.

Kern will also show a wide range of guillotines and rotary cutters, such as the K130/K141 lines and the Kern 130 rotary cutter.
